I have two sets of wheels for my GS. The fronts weigh the same (this is with tires mounted-tkc on spoke and Conti road attack on alloy). For the rear, the spoke was 1.5lbs heavier.

I have never owned a BMW but I would doubt it, especially on a brand new model.

Shorty Long explained the price difference. You can ignore my comment above saying "Dealer profit". The difference was of $495, which he explained correctly as being the destination charge.

Well it depends on what you are buying and when. When I bought my bike, a non-GS but BMW bike, dealer did give me a very attractive price. I did not pay the MSRP.

However for this Water Cooled, dealers have a wait list, and it is beginning of the year, I highly doubt that they will give you any deals. They may throw in a small priced item, or they may say we are giving you very attractive price on a trade-in, if it applies to you, and not budge further.

they do, they will, and sometimes they won't. it really does depend on the bike, dealership, time of year, factory to dealer money, special circumstances, locale, and customer him/herself. on the five BMW bikes I've bought new i received between $250-$2,500 off the bikes msrp price. i highly doubt that they'll be discounting the new GS bike much (if at all) in the early goings.

It exists because it is a convenient way to group together bikes of a common spec so that when I say I have a 2010 R1200GS, people know what the bike is. It would be pretty chaotic otherwise. Mfgs do occasionally make mid-model-year running production changes, but they are rare. Mfgs also like to group changes together by model year to avoid confusion.

If you want a mfg that makes random changes to their bike's spec willy-nilly without respect to model years, then KTM is your brand. And it makes dealing with the brand for sales, service, and support much more difficult.

I've seen both 20L and 24L listed in various specs.

I suspect it is a 20L tank and the low fuel light will come on when the tank has about 4L left. That's about what the current GS has.

What ... That's more than twice in US. My configuration had a subtotal of $19,300 before other necessary taxes and fees.
