I like the 15W-50 oil... my bike sounds happier, and the cam-chain rattle at start-up is almost gone...

Just a caution on moving to 15/50 oil. It is more vicious and will quiet some of the looser valve lash.

But being more vicious, it pumps harder, flows more slowly.

Much of engine wear is on start up, before the oil gets in place to "float" the bearing, etc.

The 15/50 will be slower in getting the lubrication around the engine at start up

Unless it is synthetic. Synthetic 20w50 flows better than regular 10w30 when cold.

Yesterday my F650GS was with the BMW mecanic service, and the valve packing was starting to leak some oil, very invisible until you touch it, i drive it offroad allmost every day and the dust betray the invisible leak so i only paid for the service of doing that and the packings, but the hoses that connect all that to the radiator where starting to loose and re tight them with no charge at all with that with the warranty, so you better go a check them out, by the way mine is 2008.

Understood!
What I think I am hearing with the cam chain tensioner is that the oil is not draining back down out of the tensioner assembly but ... I am not certain of that .......
I am blessed living in South East USA and don't get much really cold weather.
