A passed station by YamahaUSA, I'm afraid......Don't know what the deal is at their HQ, but they missed an oppurtunity here, givin' the Americans the chance to choose. I'll keep praying(well, sort of....) that y'all get the chance to buy&ride the Tenere Stateside, as well for that matter, the R and X.
Greetz from a happy Tenere-rider!

Yamaha US corporate is run by diehard cruiser guys. They passed on it.
My guess is the only way they might consider it is if other 650 DS (new model or existing) start taking off in sales and Yamaha is left holding nothing. Otherwise, I doubt it ever is gonna happen at this point.

live part time in mexico and you can buy one
http://www.yamaha-motor.com.mx/xt660tenere.html

oh the irony..."backwards" Mexico can support bringing the bike in yet the good old wealthy USA can not.
it's really screwed up at Yamaha US Corporate.

Guy's....
The "Range Open" dates/times will be released in a couple of weeks for the easter period.

When I get the dates I'll start a new thread and PM those interested parties....

Cheers,
Andy.

Introduction

Hi All, I have just bought a new to me XT660Z Tenere in Black. Its done 14,000 miles and I take delivery of it next Saturday. Full service history, heated grips, SW Motech crash bars and Scottoiler included. I managed to get it for £3,800 so I am pretty happy.

It currently has very much road orientated tyres and I am looking to change these for sometihng more dual sport. On another thread an inmate called Wizzabren recommended MITAS EO-9's, I think Sysie has used MITAS EO-9's and Dunlop D606's. What are the general thoughts on more dirt orientated tyre for the XT660Z. I dont intend on changing the rims for Excels or anything so they need to find the standard wheel size.

Any photos greatly and/or advice greatly appreaciated.

Look forward to spending so more time on this great thread.
