GSXR 1100 to Scrambler

HI guys,

I have been searching for something to do with this 1996 GSXR wich has been sitting in my garage for for too long.

So here is the raw material :





And the inspiration:



I know it will be impractical but the point is more about fun than anything to do with practicality.

I would like to know what others with the same madness think of the general plan so please.

I love the concept.
Talk to Sailah, he loves those crazy HP speed demon heavy weight dirt bikes...

As far as the Duc, I would want a flatter seat, taller bars, and lower pegs, but other than that it is cool. I love the vintage 1970s looking pleated seat like you might find on a 197x Yamaha DT or similar...very cool.

That duck is flippin sweet. Id also put motocross bars on it. I wonder what hubs they used to get dual discs with spokes like that. I think the paul smart had those

Agreed on the motocross bars and motocross positioned foot pegs.

I would also add some abreviated front fender but I very much like the general style and I think it could work on the gixxer frame.

The hubs could be KTM.

I only see a single disc. I keep looking through the openings in the right side rotor and around the caliper for a shadow effect of the other side and I do not see one.

I agree that it is odd to be right side rotor and single, if it is, but I doubt it is KTM. The caliper is not radial mount and I think, not positive, that on the WP forks without leading axles, axle straight under fork tube, they are usually radial mounted calipers.

Not sure what that fork and wheel are.

Here is the Paul Smart. That looks like it might be it. I still think he is only running the right side. On this pic you can clearly see the left rotor through the right one. It is a big Brembo 4 pot that is NOT radial mount, so these may be the fork and laced wheel.

Do what you want but it's just the wrong bike to start with. You're going to spend money to lose money and end up with a bastard child that only a mother could love and love is to strong of a word. The bike is fairly original and in great shape and at the right price will make someone a great ride. If anything raise the bars and make a sport tourer out of it. Sell it and buy a project bike more suitable for the endeavor.Just my opinion but I'd have absolutely zero interest in riding a GSXR scrambler.

Not even sure I would go to the trouble/expense to change for spoke wheels though, gixxer mags, brakes and 6 pistons calipers should be ok.

Thanks for the clarification. My bad. I just could not see any disc behind the right one.

I think we may have found out what the forks on the green Duc are...they look exactly like the Gsxr ones but with Brembo calipers.
Still curious what the wheel itself is...KTM them maybe, hub from a 950/990 and a differnt rim laced on to it.?

I'd bet that most of the parts on that green are sportclassic parts, maybe the Paul Smart, maybe a different one.
My first thought was GT1000, but those have a dual shock rear, and the green meanie here is the offset mono. Interesting is how it looks like the shock angle has really changed from PS to this meanie.

The green bike has a center mount monoshock and the tank ,frame and swingarm-shock are from a SS. The wheels and subframe look to be the biggest changes.

Yes,either a 600 or 750 from the looks of the clutch.The frame has been cut off at the rear and a new sub frame added to suit the seat.

Hmmm my buddy just picked up an SS for $600 and then wrecked himself riding dirt in Georgia. In fact he's in the hospital this morning for surgery. I might bring him some tittie mags and start the negotiations...
