Armslist is very iffy. For instance if you sell your gun to somebody on Armslist and he commits a crime, then you might get the blame for something. At least get a notarized bill of sale if you do transfer this way. I would never do a transfer except at at gunshop who is an FFL. You have already done the deed, but others seem to think this is a good way to go.

Only offer to sell to someone with CHL. New guns are going for more than list due to the fact its 7 days to wait for a background check. Assuming the gun is an ok piece. Don't make this complicated.

I am not an attorney nor am I providing legal advice.
If I were to sell a gun to someone I do not know personally, in a private transfer, I might excerpt section A of form 4473 for the buyer to fill out. Also, a notarized bill of sale might be a required part of the sale. CYA. Ken (former FFL licensee)

jasonsguns.com but it may only be for NM. I do not know how it works or what it costs or anything about it
![]() I think the background checks should be available for private sellers to do to protect themselves. Going thru an FFL is a good idea and they should be paid for their efforts. You may be able to consign it thru an FFL. I have used an FFL here that will do a transfer for $10.00.

Make sure you guys get bill of sales every time you sell anything to anyone, just to cover your ass. It would be terrible if someone took the rake that you sold at a garage sale and did something bad with it...........

Could someone point to any case were a private seller was ever held accountable for a crime on a private sale? I have to agree with Hondo on this one, waaaaaay to much paranoia.
Straw purchases not included.

I had never heard of 'Armslist' until this thread. Listed 3 guns before noon, 20 emails as of 8:00 PM.

Charges? Conviction? Jail Time? Being involved in the process of a firearms trace? I don't know about any of these. I doubt any on the first three. The BATFE regularly does traces through to the first non-FFL purchaser. This doesn't mean whoever initiated the trace contacts that person, but I've got my ducks all in a row if they do. Kneeslider, I think you left "money" out of your post title, per WZ. Ken (tin foil hat securely in place...)

Whoopedy doo. A lot of older guns in existence were used as weapons of war and have very sordid pasts. Only way I'd be concerned is if it were stolen property, and that sort of thing can't necessarily be detected when purchasing through a dealer.
