New Huskys based on BMW 650

I had a look at one on the weekend.
Unfortunately it didn't grab me like I thought it would.
The wings sticking out in the tank area look pretty vulnerable as does the dodgy looking gear lever.
It did look like there was plenty of grease in the swingarm rocker pivots and no doubt the motor and suspension would be a step up from the DR but I think I will keep the DR a bit longer and live in hope that the next generation is a bit more refined and has a bigger tank. At least the price is competitive.
Maybe the new Husky owners will take it to another level.

Anyone had a look at crash bars for the TR? A fella on Cafehusky went down, broke the side shroud which is plastic and also mounts the radiator. This is a problem as the radiator was no longer supported on the left hand side.

Would GS crash bars work? Anyone else working on a set? I know I dropped my DR on slippery clay and it worries me a little to think that a simple drop could do that much damage.

Well it's certainly not a dud

Short ride on bitumen & dirt... and I like it. I am on ballerina tippy toes when mounted but I don't ride draggin my feet so that's ok The donk is very smooth with none of the vibes that my single spark Dakar has. Steering is nice and will certainly put some super sports to the sword in the twisties
With the longer opt screen I had wind noise around the bottom of helmet so maybe the short arse screen would suit me better (when i get my winning lotto ticket). The plastics over the radiator seem fragile but time will tell.
It's a steel framed/swingarmed X-bike but it certainly doesn't feel heavy...but I didn't have to pick it up either...
SelfService costs will be the same as mine given both the air/lube filters are the same, not sure on the fuel filter though .


Overall...built to a price point and well done mr BMW...err I mean mrs Huskyvarna

È tutto ancora sul tavolo, decisioni definitive non sono state prese. Però una cosa posso assicurarla: non venderemo Husqvarna tramite concessionarie KTM. Husqvarna avrà punti vendita propri.
Cosa cambierete nella gamma?
Io terrei per buone i modelli 650 e la Strada. Ma Husqvarna ha anche un enorme potenziale nel segmento supermoto-Sport, vedrei bene un nuovo modello di questo tipo. La Nuda 900 non si è venduta bene: per me è troppo lontana dalle radici del Marchio. Ha pagato caro il prezzo della super competenza BMW nel settore delle stradali. E poi con l’esperienza KTM dei bicilindrici siamo convinti che un concessionario non sarebbe felice di dover vendere un modello simile.

This is good news indeed. If he puts it on record he will keep the TR650 in the range then I'm sure the spring weather will see a lot of sales of these bikes in seppo land.

The Husky.AU site also states that a "Large fuel tank under development." I don't know how long that's been on the site. More good news anyway.

btw... sw-motech are also gearing up to make accessories. The more options we get, the better!

Are there any owners out there who have also had a DR? These things have my interest peaked but I do wanna make sure they are as much as an off road bike as the DR is. I don't wanna go clearing triples and table tops but I wanna know I can get a bit of air of whatever in the bush and not have to worry. My DR is stock in the suspension but is definitely a bit too soft for what I use it for. Whats the comparison?

According to a comparison article I read recently, the power is about the same, but the husky is 20kg. Heavier.

The frame and suspension would have to be really good to hide that weight.

What drugs are you on XR man and where do you getem!

I did almost 90,000k on a slightly tricked DR

The Terra exels in all areas it has about 20 more hp than the DR. The only unknown is reliability - I have only done 6,000 on the Terra so far.

There is no comparison to the DR the weight thing is bullshit there is not much in it compared to a DR and its lower.

The terra's suspension is great for me 80kg out of the box - I am not touching it.
