BMWKTMBILL thanks for the link it will be more useful then the thread index. I take it there where no changes in the LC4 from 2003 to 2007.

Eric, there are several rebuild threads that put the factory manual to shame. Gunner, Clintz and Tseta come to mind.
As for changes, my '02 low flow engine is well covered, after that inmates with the high flow engine will help enlighten you. bill

Thanks for your help Bill.
Turned out to be a broken ring gear in the starter so thankfully no need for a rebuild. Just replacing the ring bearing and gear and I should be good,
