There sure are a lot of cool birds in Edison - What kind is the big red and black one?

I believe it is a Red Tailed Hawk. I confess that that photo had the hawk
photo shopped to it.

Wow, nice! Are those trails in the hills to the east of Nestucca Bay? Gorgeous area, I'd love to explore sometime.

That was really my first ride on the new scoot other than just around my house.
It was great and pretty much either what i expected or better
Turns better than the XR and way better suspension.
Only complaint really is the turning radius. Other than that it flat rocks the backwoods

The Nestucca area is great and I actually found a bunch of new stuff this weekend.
The OHV trails are nice and there are many great dirt and gravel roads around there as well.
Eventually ended up on the Nestucca river rd and headed to the beach for a bit before looping back.

How much mud did you encounter on your ride? I haven't dared take my DR650 off-road because the tires aren't up to the task.. but if it's minimal, maybe I can give it a go. Otherwise I'll have to wait til I get the KLX back together (bent forks, ugh).

It was a bit slippery, but not much in the way of mud. Never is up there really.
Hands down the best place to ride in the coast range in the winter IMO.
Soil is great and while there are puddles, there is usually very little mud.
And im just talking the trails. The dirt and gravel roads are GREAT!

I did hit snow around The middle staging area (elk flats) so i think its best to start at Whip up and explore from there.

Sounds like a perfect day! I wish I could afford a Husky... I'd love to trade the XR for a TE449 or 511

20 more hp and 100 pounds less weight would be great!
