Thanks CP. The best part is that they are old enough to be exempt from most California vehicle regulations, so we can do whatever we want to it. Not many factory parts under that beast anymore.

My top box is a Givi E340 Monolock, and it holds a large dual sport helmet, plus shirt, gloves, and small lunch. It also has a backrest that my wife really likes. It was much cheaper than the Givi Monokey, and I like the rack much better for holding a longer duffel bag full of camping gear.

My saddlebags are hybrid soft/hard Givi Easylock (basically hard plastic panniers with material over the top). They are pretty good size, but won't hold a helmet I don't think. They will hold a thick riding jacket, though. They have a zipper that can be locked, but are not all that secure.

I pulled the trigger on a 1200 a week ago.

It initially limited the revs to 6500 rpm but it got better after 400kms. Had to set the shift light manually, though.

Racked up a total of 750kms over the weekend getting to know the bike better.

The local Aprilia dealer is new but seems to have invested enough to feel like a safe bet. I got the 1st Dorsoduro. Actually the 1st Aprilia they had as I was at their door the moment they opened when they got their 1st shipment. They've since sold out all their RSV4 Factories, DD1200s and Tuonos. The 750s are the slow movers. Kinda expected as liters sell better than mids here in the Philippines.

It was a bit too tall when I 1st sat on it but lowering the front by 1 notch and softening rear preload by 1 cm fixed that. I'm 173 cm in height with a 76 cm inseam.

Coming off a year and a half break from riding, I'm very happy with the bike. Only issues I have are the relatively low tank range and the rear tire that edges too easy. Other than that, the thing's a hoot.

Great pictures, and welcome to the forum! There aren't too many 1200 owners here, so we'd love to hear what you think of it.

Does the 1200 come with the 6-inch wide rear wheel? You could switch to the 190/55-17 for your next tire to gain a little more lean angle. If you've got the 5.5-inch wheel, I wouldn't recommend it.

The bike has a 6in rear with a 180 tire...

Have done 930 kms in 2 weekends... Enjoying it tremendously except for faster highway runs which are a pain...

Today, I ended up taking a quick ride with some bimmer folks to the Pusod Taal Conservation Center which hosted us for breakfast...

Was able to let her stretch her legs a bit...

Notes on the DD1200, consumption and range (S mode + ATC 1)
On the highway going a near constant 150kph : 5.8 l/km
In the mountain passes : 6.6 to 7.1 l/km depending on how playful I get
In the traffic hell of Metro Manila : 10.8 to 11.2 l/km
Fuel light comes on around 10 liters from full.

Does this improve after the 1000 service???

Hello DD'ers I'm new to the forum and this thread is great! I have read the entire thing and there is A TON of good information here. I've been drooling over the Dorso and/or shiver for about a year, just trying to get the funds/balls to pull the trigger. I think the dorso is the winner though.

I'm a total squid to the road bike scene, I've been on dirt bikes both trail and motocross pretty much my entire life but now want something fun for commuting, general stress relief and occasional weekend adventures (hopefully 2 up with the wife but we'll see).

Anyway, my main question is how many miles have you all gotten on your 750's? I've been looking at a couple bikes locally (seattle) both '09's with ~10k on the clock. I don't really know if that is a lot, and other than the instrument fogging are there any other issues I should be looking for?
