I did a brief search comparing the BMW S54 with the LS1 and the weights appear close. With two fewer cylinders in line, the V-8 might have a slight advantage. Maybe room for a Nelson Racing twin turbo crate motor. 900 hp on pump gas, 1100 on race gas.

Yeah in reading through the build thread - 2400 lbs or so after extensive weight reduction, 57% or so on the front. I don't know what it was stock but that does not seem horrible.

Late to the party, but did you ever get the front end clunk sorted? My guess is shock bushing, ball joint, or loose brake caliper.
Glad to see you chose the real sports car version (hard top, manual trans). That car was a classic the moment it rolled off the assembly line. I love the sound of an I6, or even better a turbo 6. Of course that can be good or bad, depending if you are talking repair costs vs performance. Is yours turbo? |
