KTM riders: 3 reasons why you should have 3 street bikes?
I need help justifying 3 street bikes to my wife.
Not sure if my reasons can justify it: 1. Enjoy your good health while you have it. 2. I enjoy riding different types of bikes. 3. I am retired . . . you can only do so much yard work and home improvement projects . . . the more bikes I have . . . the more tinkering I can do. My wife says: "You only have one butt" . . . we should save our money for the uncertain future. I ride mountain bikes on single trails . . . Which is why I prefer street bikes.

Same situation-- 990Adventure, 950SM, and 950SE. Retired. And you could be quoting my wife
. Life, and marriage in particular, is an exercise in accommodation. At the end of the day if nothing or no one is suffering because of it, does it really matter?

You don't have to save money for uncertain future. You might as well be dead in the future. You have to live your live good in the present time while it is still (more or less) certain.

I told my wife that three KTM's cost as much as one car. If I didn't have the bikes we would have another car. I choose the bikes...

If you have to justify it with reasoning... You've already lost a battle you shouldn't have to fight!
I don't know off the top of my head how many bikes I have - Probably between 15 and 20. When I come home with another one the wife wants to see it right away and know all about it. She's interested because I am. She knows a big part of my life revolves around motorcycles and makes a point to share my enthusiasm.

You've got some nice bikes !
Ok, somebody has to be the contrarian, I guess I'll stick my hand in the fire There is no "right" or "wrong" solution here, but there is an old saying from the American south I will offer : "If Mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy" If I was in your shoes I'd sell the blue one and keep the two orange ones forever. The SM and the Adventure are very nice bikes and one less bike won't ruin the riding situation. Of course sometimes these things are not really about practical considerations such as money - there can be power struggles in relationships and sometimes the other person simply wants to know they still have some power. I have no way of knowing whether this could be at the root of your situation but human behavior is not as complex as we like to imagine it is, and a lot of what people do is based on simple stuff which is not that different from what goes on in a group of chimpanzees ( please understand I do NOT mean any disrespect when I say this, it's just a comment on behavioral psychology ). Anyway, why would you even want to ride the blue one when you have the two orange ones ? I like an LC8 engine bike better than any other road bike I've ever ridden and I'd be on that supermoto every day the weather permitted. . |
