The Punxsutawney Groundhog said Winter is over in just a week or so....
The rodent said it, I believe it. End of story.

Been a cold snowy last couple months
Good thing that rodent saw said shadow- otherwise I'd hunt him down

Oh the mistake we make in trusting the little vermin.......... One only needs to have watched "Caddy Shack" to see how devious the little vermin are.

Seriously-

My first day off in the last 10

THIS is how I spent my energy

Clearing the 20-30 inches off the north side of the roof

Tough to get the scale in the sea of white crust

A minor spring(ish) day- made it into the 40's

snow melted fast- I could see over the snowbanks along the driveway

Some fog developed as the snow melted, balmy 44 degrees will do that

Long flat run out toward the northwest- promontory area. Little potential for ice on a north face out there

The Golden Spike parking lot-
A quick stretch and phone check before turning around

No trains runnin down these tracks

Chilly, but I looked like this in the helmet

I was kinda ham-fisted with the throttle

Again went out northwest, but now the snow has cleared off the dirt
Cool, upper 40's and windy.

I should at this point, introduce "Mr.Salty", a new mascot, generously donated by this year's secret santa (Hawk )

Gravel over clay- some gravel swim but quick, the clay was tacky

Coyboy Junkies played "Driving Wheel"

Mr Salty approved

A few miles later, "cowgirl in the sand"

That speck middle right is a golden eagle , she was on a fence, bolted as I stopped (sadly the camera was in a distance mode)

Salty used his Mojo and the ipod spun SRV's version of superstition

More in a few

...to continue

Headed east into an area called the "Salt Wells"- a dry clay crust in the summer, winter and spring turns it to a shallow dry lake

"Sloop John B"- had been awhile

"Man in Black"- Mr Cash

NO other vehicles for over 1 hr out there

My favorite of the day

Melted fast at the road's edge

For comparison, the same are last week (taken whilst out hunting)

Back to the moment

Mr Salty approved of the days events

Thanks All
