Oooops! Nicely polished there. Obviously didn't hurt too much as you were still able to get the camera out.

Av_M has probably developed good technique. I think he's picked it up a few times before.
BTW: How's the new business going?

Noob Alert
Hey guys, I had a couple of questions regarding riding in dirt. I have dropped Scarlet (orange T800XC) twice in the dirt and both the times it was because of stalling. I understand that for the most part it is a lack of experience from my part than a problem with the bike. But I want to learn to mitigate the situation by making the bike as ready as possible for dirt. I have noticed that since I have gone out on dirt, when I stop the bike after a 20-30mins ride (on or off road) and switch off the ignition, I hear a draining kind of sound similar to the one the fuel pump makes on start up. Is this related to stepper motor/air filter? What are the basic periodic maintenance to be done on the bike while taking it off road often? With what periodicity should I clean the chain? Air filter? Do I need to grease the stepper motor?
Any and all suggestions will be highly appreciate. Pardon my ignorance. |

The noise is the injection motors, its normal on shutdown. Mine does it every time I pull the key.
I lube my chain every time it goes off-road. If its only the street its not too often, maybe 300 miles. Cleaning the air filter is a pain in the ass, I do mine around 800 miles. I don't mess with the steppers as Im under warranty. Quote:

Wrong!
If it's the "faxing home" noise it's the stepper motor resetting. No idea what an "injection motor" is. The trick with the air filter is to buy the Unifilter.com.au pre-filter. http://www.uniflow.com.au/contents/en-us/p5646.html Takes 90% of the crap out of the airflow, keeping the stock filter nice and clean. If you do a hunt on here quick, there's a group buy going.

I was told the "built-in fax machine" was the ABS unit resetting. Makes more sense than the stepper motor, it's just a little tiny thing. That's just what I heard somewhere in my travels. No such thing as an 'injection motor'. But it does sound like it could be an ECU unit, although I've never heard of one making hoise. On this thread it references both items as making the noise: http://www.triumphrat.net/tiger-chat...er-1050-a.html On another thread they thought it was the fuel pump/injection pump, which sounds a lot like the other reply of 'injection motor'. Could be the pressure pump. Alas, it is all normal. +1 on the Uni Pre-Filter. Another group buy getting going on over there.
