NordieBro and his mates used trials rears to go into the Leatham on Sunday.
They were nicely surprised at the comfort of the ride over the rocks.
NordieBro went in with 12psi and took it down to 8psi for the trip back out.

I don't think that there is any real advantage until the pressure gets to under 10psi
I run 7-8psi on the back of the WR and 4-5psi on the back of the beta

Well seeing as my back is still not good enough to go for a trail ride today with my ex-friends Andy and Andrew and my ex-son Glen I am going to go for a pootle on the klr

so for the sake of Stay-at-home-Steve and any others who are interested I'll be spotting my way around

Yep was a big days ride - 3 tanks of gas so must be 750k ish (dead speedo - speedo drive ate the front hub $$$) ) lots of indirect routes although 95% sealed back roads - awesome magic twisties between kimbolton and mangaweka - except for the blind tightening radius left hand corner I didn't make... (now has big skid mark next to a large fresh bowel movement on the wrong side of the road)

12hrs door to door.

Was too hot in the Hawkes Bay - I hate riding in the heat almost as much as I hate riding in the rain....
The wind came up after Waipukarau and cooled things down a lot - simply stunning area to the east and south of Dannieverke - love that area

While I enjoyed the day I'd rather have been up in the hills (except not yesterday as Andy's chain jammed between his sprocket and swingarm and they had to manhandle his bike about 1km along a really tight rutty shitty track and then tow it another 10? km back to the car - took them all afternoon and they were all pretty stuffed when they got back....)

if my back is still not right (bloody trials bike) you might just see me on the RRRR

Good, you aren't dead then. The spot 'I'm Okay' tracker ended at Palmerston North. I know how dangerous that area can be - I used to live there.

spot was doing some weird stuff yesterday - turning off by itself and then flashing funny combinations of lights - I think spot might found the handlebars of the klr a bit much

I don't think I will replace it - I may get an epirb instead.

Seeing as Glen and Andrew are heading off to do hard core trials stuff which my back won't handle and my confidence isn't up to I'm going to dust off the klr again and go for a ride to give spot another test

I took the Spot out today and turned on tracking.
It pinged 3 track points. All when I was resting up in the hills at 3rd house.

Don't think it'd got a satellite fix before we started off and it was in my bumbag, not facing anything remotely like north...

With the cloud cover, even the Garmin had a problem getting a fix.
