Hmm, maybe I'll save $110 and just pack a few spare o-rings.

Can't really argue with that logic for recreational use.

For racing anything semi-serious, you don't want that hassle. You're not gonna rebuild it on the trail, and your mechanic has better things to do all night long.

The MD also has redundant bands.

See this is how it happens. "Oh the entry fee is $2100, what's another $110 to make sure your roadbook holder doesn't shit the bed??"

For the Mexican 1000, the 730 will be just fine. No need to upgrade.

Roadbook is coming along nice at the moment... Some high quality magnets arrived and I have some Zirconia bearings with which I can play with The cover still puzzles me sometimes (most of the time I ''sleep on it'' ) but I am getting there. So far the cartridge works flawlessly, it is way too easy to change roadbooks and load new paper I don't even want to load my running Touratech anymore .
Brodovitch is helping me out with the internet layout and we now have a team of 11 testers.

A while ago, back in September I wrote

'One thing I want to do, even if I pay the costs for this, is to engrave all the nickames that participated in this development''

I also wrote in a reply to you Aaron that

''You and Paul will get the first prototypes no matter what''

I will stick to this plan !!

Another very important thing is the Tower that I am going to test this roadbook. The HDB tower arrived last weekend and I did most of the work yesterday, I will post pics later today... This is an amazing piece of equipment. I am really amazed by Paul's work there... Once the mechanics are sorted out I am going to do the electrics and off we go

My everyday job is a major setback at the moment as we have to work during the weekends to finish some projects (I start to hate sewage plants ... ) but I will get there. I will also arrange for you and Mark (BajaDad) to receive a tower plate for the IMO/ICO/RNS whatever, and the Roadbook so you do not have to worry about the shape.I think we are ok for the Norra Rally, the shipping time is not bad and I will make sure that you have all the spares that you may need there.

Up and away

Not sure if I missed this... 640Arm, any idea on the finished weight of that roadbook holder?

Not yet Dave,

The main contribution is the outer shell at the moment but it will not be made of aluminium in the production. I am a little bit cautious here because I have seen in previous Rallies roadbooks getting destroyed and I would not want this to happen in this unit although the transmission will cope with axial, radial and angular misalignment very good. There will be one unit which will be indestructible made out of Kevlar or special PU but that will be decided in a later stage. The internals may also change material.

To answer your question , the worst case is 200 grams heavier than the current units. But that as I said may change in the final version and this heavily depends on the tester's feedback

D.

I bolted up my Nav tower this past weekend, it's awesome!
I'm in awe of guys like you and Paul, the talent is impressive.
Thinking out of the box is important to fuel innovation and you both have that going on. Thanks for all your hard work!

Great to see you making progress on that roadbook! Looking really good so far.

Dave and I just finished updating the RMS roadbook mounts, and the new ones are compatible with all the versions of the F2R roadbooks.

Here's a pic with the new RB-730/B model installed (NO DRILLING REQUIRED):

Beefy 1/8" thick aluminum and fully rubber isolated.

Any problems with the alum cracking at the bends?
