There have been a number of people reporting pitted lifter buckets and some reports of failed roller bearings on the followers but I don't think I have seen any cases of broken or damaged rollers.

In regards to the problem with the rollers, I remember years ago talking to David Butler, then at Butler M/C's in Lithgow, at the time he was racing Ducatis and stated that he was constantly having problems with what I think was a 998, top end, and regularily changed the cams and followers, until he started using Repsol oil, then he never had a problem again.
Has anyone looked into the problem bikes and what oil the were using?[/QUOTE] ![]()

safari tank.
OK so afternoon before the first "big" ride on the 690 and I fill up the Safari tank and the standard tank.
Problem. The safari tank keeps feeding fuel up into the standard tank and pushing it out the over flow hose on the rally raid cap. I turned the tap off on the Safari tank and this has stopped the vacuum as such. But when I turn the tap back on again, it's the same old problem. Just for the record I filled the Safari tank first and then the standard tank after. I'm thinking I should have done it the other way round. Anyone else had this problem or have a solution?

tank
I guess I did Seth. Mainly because I bought the bike second hand and it didnt come with a manual. So do you have to turn the tap off every timeyou fill both tanks?

2013 690 Enduro
Picked up my 2013 KTM 690 Enduro today
First impressions after coming off a DRZ400E Well I especially got the KTM Airbox, Mapping, and Akrapovic fitted by TeamMoto so that it would come from shop running sweet, and guess what, it ran like a dream. Not sure what all the comments about gearbox ratio too close, man you should ride a DRZ then you'll know close, the gearbox is great, don't think I got anywhere near 6th, on the DRZ I would have looking for 2 more gears by then. KTM Airbox, that things pretty noisy. Akrapovic, I was worried it would be too noisy, it's sweet with DB Killer in. Jerky throttle, not from my perspective, will have to confirm after a bush run but seems sweet. Well now it's run in and Farkle time, rear rack and small bag, bash plate, radiator guards, and we will see what else. Oh an TeamMoto got a new Map set in yesterday, just in time for my bike One more thing for TeamMoto, when you deliver bikes in Aus, set speedos to KPH not MPH, lucky I realised as I thought it was a bit fast in a school zone. ![]()

Nice one Paul, fingers crossed it stays all good for you.
Now you can ride it like you stole it.

Oh and I hope to take it easy for a while, if I can contain myself, when the front wheel lifted tonight I backed down pretty quick, I want to run it in well.

coming off a DRZ i think have double the horsies would be distracting. and it all comes down to personal preference. the gearbox works well if you like to keep the 690 on the boil. but guys upgrading from a TE610, 530EXC or LC4 found the ratios closer together on the 690 (see this thread).
