Copper Canyon 2013

I'll be heading down to Hermosillo and then over to Creel, leaving northern AZ on 16 FEB, hoping to leave here at 0500 and to Hermosillo by dusk. Then getting up early and making it to Creel on the night of the 17th. I'll be on a Super Tenere. I hope to meet up with a few of you guys along the way.
I have to be back on the 23rd, but have no set in stone itinerary.

Two of us are planning to arrive in Creel on the 17th also. We'll be on a 1200GS and 650GS.

Haven't done anything ahead of time for a hotel, but Pueblo Viejo looks cool.

We will arrive in Presido on 3/9/13 crossing the border on 3/10/13. there are six of us. (Charlie & Juanito will not be coming this year) Bob, Tom & I will be there for two weeks. Daggy, Paul & Adam for one week.

Our plan is to go to Cuauhtemoc, Bahuichivo,(low road) Urique,(New Road) Batopilas. Do you know, will we be able to cross Rio Urique? Then head south & explore Sinforosa Canyon. The one week guys will head home from there, we'll go exploring for another week

It would be great to have you join us again, if your schedule allowsJust, No Damn Naaats!

Anyone have a good rule of thumb for Pesos per day expenditure (gas, food, lodging) doing the rounds (Creel - Batopilas - Urique - etc) in Copper Canyon?

Not much different than anywhere else really. You can camp for next to nothing, but bring a winter bag because it gets damn cold at night at 8,000'. Or you can spend $75 a night for a really nice cabin in Creel, like I did - and there's pretty much everything in between. Food and fuel aren't going to be too much different than anywhere else - lodging will be the big variable.

500 - 600 Pesos per day is a good number to start with. Hotels will be your biggest expense.

Anybody going in March? Single rider here with 2-3 weeks to kill at the beginning of March...Copper Canyon sounds like it just might fit the bill.

I´ll gladly ride again with you Minnesotan AMIGOS, but as last year I will catch up, also with Nico, who has a brand new KLX 450 R and forget about the Dam Gnats, they are on vacation at El Fuerte.

Bring your coffee device to imprenate Juanita´s garden ( I´ll bring the coffee) in the morning and at evening have XX.I´ll be waiting at Chihuahua city. Will miss the Coon´s.
We will cross the Urique Rio, being several we have done in the past.

Glad you liked it, it is a theme that can go on an on. The book I mentionned BORN TO RUN by Christopher Mc Dougal and the other is THE SILVER MAGNET, reading this 2 books will get you a panorama of the BARRANCA DEL COBRE, hope you see you here and try to adjust you ride with Jack Backer.

I have to check on that, but I think they going earlier than we are.
I'm not sure how flexible my coworker with the date is, so we will see. Our plan was to start on the 19th of April and be back on monday the 22nd.
How cold will it be in March at the Barranca del Cobre?

Tom, in March it is still cold at dawn - 4 to -6 C , but soon as sun ups the temp rises, chances of snowing are still high, down in the barrancas ( canyons ) nice and warm ,20 -to 30 C asking for XX
If you stick on riding only 4 days ( 19th of April back the 22 nd ), it is like us Doc´s do : feel the temp. of the patient !!

I know, it is short, but better than nothing. .
I am working also on a 2 month tour through mexico. But this has to wait until next year. This in april will be the first impression and I can't wait to go.
I guess I will be better of in april temperature wise.
