I love URE. We try to head out there at least once a year, usually in early November. This past year was the best Fall conditions I've ever seen. Dusty as hell, but great riding.

I've been twice. Once about ten years or so ago as a volunteer corner-worker. That was when it was just cars, no bikes. And then went the first year bikes hit the scene to crew for a friend who rode his DR 650. Both times were a blast (no pun intended). There is plenty to do and see, and you'll stay busy. I may be talked into going again this year as a volunteer, but it's too early to tell right now because I'm crazy busy at work and having to travel for business some.

Anyway, if people are thinking about it... go. It's a good time.

I'll be at Sandblast. I'll be operating a radio at a yet to be determined location.

I'm interested in going to the game lands, but I work this weekend. I'm off the the 18th through the 21st. Then off the 24th & 25th. I know it kinda a freaky schedule but that's 48 hour shifts for you

I have gotten very little information on Sandblast. I know they have my info and I'm able to log in to the volunteer page, but I'm not sure what the next step is. Do I just show up to the planning meeting on the Friday before? I'm not sure who I should contact for more information.
Anyone able to help?

Thanks, Dan

If you are signed up to volunteer you need to be at the volunteer meeting Friday night at 8:00. At this meeting you will be given your assignments and you can meet the rest of the stage team that you will be working with.

If you login here you may be able to see your assigned team, etc. (sometimes this doesn't get finalized until wed-thurs next week)

http://sandblastrally.linaracing.com...teer-login.php

If you are a HAM for the event there may be a radio operators meeting to discuss the net and procedures (this doesn't always happen) it depends on who the net control operator is.

call me if you have questions etc. I remember it can be a little intimidating the first rally you go to.

I should add that Sean if you are interested in volunteering you should be able to be assigned to the same team as Dan. If you 2 end up traveling together.

found this on the wayback machine. Back in the old days some Wards made a trip to the Sandblast area. Was quite an adventure.

There should be a couple of similar trips later this year.

I will make the meeting. I plan on camping out Friday and Saturday nights. If anyone else is heading down and wants to ride together great, let me know. I'm out of work at 3:30 and will have my gear loaded and with me. My DR is down atm so my luggage situation is iffy. I hope to bring all I need in one dry duffel. I can wear a backpack for stuff if I need to.

Anyone experienced with the clutch/transmission of the DR? I've got the clutch plates removed so far but everything looks good as far as I can tell. I hope I don't have to go into the lower end...

Dan

I commute to work at the hospital most days and can be found riding in our glorious sand on the weekends. I know I've seen some of you guys while riding around the area, but have yet to formally meet any other duel sporters locally. I'd like to meet up and ride with some other locals one of these days.

Yo Dan! May be you can hook up with us some time. I ride with a group that actually rides. Some more in the winter months than others, but a great group of friends/riders nontheless. My buddy and I rode last Sunday in our own backyards and had a blast-and it wasn't HS. Don't let anyone throw you off from there though. If you are just looking to get away from people and do some light dirt road/trails, you can have a blast-it's nothing heavy though-relaxing more than anything. Anyway, let's hook up and ride. We will hopefully have a busy spring of riding and trips.

Sounds like we need to plan a "big bike" route. At least 3 400+ pound bikes plus a fleet of DRZ400's.
