Well actually it's easy. I used the Touratech mount that goes onto the four handlebar mount bolts and it has worked perfectly now for about 3000km.

The top holes with the rubber well mounts are already the fairing, and I drilled two holes for the bottom two. Took about half an hour!

Here it is in action, albeit with the older crappy Touratech dashboard.

Hi Mike

Is this solution stable enough to mount the GPS or not?
The reason you added the braces is the GPS weight or the new dashboard?

Thanks

Desierto - 2013 F800GS

Hi guys,

Here is a link to our 2013 Show Bike - http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=560417024 with the latest Desierto screen fitted. The screen is hugely functional and looks amazing too!!

We have had riders from 5ft 7" to 6ft 4" ride the bike and all of them said it is great to control the air flow to them or over the bike.

Work hard, ride harder.

Is there a way to mount a GPS on the Desierto?

Has the Desierto design been updated?
I wish they would update the price in the downward direction ...

Maybe... still in box ready to install but still trying the Mirage 2. Might be a new windshield coming along. TT is just in a box - waiting to be called into duty some day maybe soon.

What don't you like about the Mirage? do you think the TT is that much better?

Any clue as to when they will have a Desierto for 2013 F800GS? I would buy one just to get this dash! Too cool!

No pictures visible

I am new to the Forum, and for some reason I am able to see many pictures? Is there something I am missing, perhaps a menu selection of sorts...................................

Hi, yes that is the latest 2013 screen...works really well. Not compared it to the previous model to say exactly what the differences are...but would think they would be slightly different. I also have the Desierto on my R1200GSA and the only difference is it comes with a bar to mount GPS but doesn't have the manual adjusters for the screen position...easy mod.

I love the Desierto screen/fairing. It works well and really does give the bike an aggressive look.

Lost adjustment screws

My adjustment screws loosened a few times, but I always noticed it before loosing one. Last weekend proved otherwise. So I got a replacement set from Touratech and made 2 simple rubber bands from an old bicycle tube and wrapped them around the plastic knurled knobs to add some tension. Still easy to adjust, but hopefully just enough tension to keep them from wandering loose.

I was warned about losing the knobs. I use rubber washers behind each knob and never had an issue. In fact, they are bitch to move sometimes.
