Look what the courier man brought this morning.
![]() Shipped on Monday here by Saturday. I bet Captain Cook would be amazed :-). I will change the cable, even though the old one has freed up considerably, as the inside is probably cut up. The question is, oil it or not? Old Basil has a hard life, but I try to make sure he gets more than his fair share of services.

I just noticed that the clutch cable is made by Venhill. This is what their website says.
Q: Do I need to lubricate Venhill’s control cables? A: No. All our clutch, brake and control cables are Teflon lined, and do not need any form of lubrication. No lube then.

I can't believe I've put up with the old clutch cable for so long. It's very smooth now, like new. The reason I never suspected the cable was, that it went bad so quickly after installing it, a few thousand k's at the most. The new one has got to be better.
I also fitted the left indicator. It's not wired-in yet, but I have to say, it is an improvement over the stock indicators. Unfortunately, this is going to cost me $45, because now I have to do the rear as well. The first set was $25 off Trade me. Someone had bought them, but never fitted them. Better, eh?

The second indicator is now working. Somehow I have a feeling that I'll end up doing this again.
Once I have changed the oils again I will see if I can find a competent upholsterer, who won't stuff up my single seat cover. It needs to be riveted onto the metal base. Then I'll need to tweak the rack where it sits on the cross-member that holds the rear fender. I am still not sure how I'll do it. I want it to look right.

They've built an Enduro park on the section next door. Too bad that Basil had wash and is not allowed to play in the dirt.

Mind you an Enduro park would have been handy, especially with flood lights

After five years, or so, the trusty Hornet needs a bit of R&R. $236 buys you a new pin-lock visor, a pin-lock lens, cheek pads and a new head liner. All that including freight.
![]() It will be nice to have a clear view again and not having to face a very tired helmet interior.
