Totally agree with 568V8. Although I haven't been to NWT, I've done the Dempster and took 1 extra can can half the size of those which I picked up in Dawson City for 5 bucks. On my first major Yukon tour, I made it as far a Vanderhoof before I shipped back all the extra crap I was carrying including most cooking stuff.

I'm planning a trip similar to yours but the opposite way. I'm leaving BC around the 3rd week in July and heading to NFLD, coming back via the Trans Lab then blast back via the States. When are you planning on leaving? Feel free to PM me and I'd love to help with the BC and Yukon part of your trip.

Interesting! I like the idea of shipping useless stuff haha! On our first trip I wouldn't be surprised if we bring everything twice As far as the gas cans, they are only 4.5L each, but I'm starting to be convinced that I should leave them empty for the highway part of our trip! I want them in case I come across a sign like that : (More than what we can do with a full tank)



We are planing to leave in the very end of may or beguinning of june. I read about the highway that goes to labrador, and I heard it's pretty intense :P And I will sure message you when we get to planning that part of our trip! And enjoy yours as well !!!

Hi! Bar risers is a very common modification on all motorcycles... To this date, we have a BMW F800GS, a KTM 990 Adventure and a KLR 650, so I was wondering if we should all get risers... We will do most of our trip on highways and main road, what do you guys recommend?



Or even plain 1" spacers

Hey! Well the thing is there is no place for a trip from planning till the end, and we didn't want to have multiple thread for the same trip. I thought it would be nice to have a couple of people following our thread during the trip as well... But to be honnest, I didn't thought many people would see it before it actually happened

Hey! I know it's been a while since we updated the prep/progress. too busy with projects and exams... So here's the last ad-ons for my bike!

CENTER STAND
I recently looked for a centerstand for my bike! I know it will be very usefull on the trip! So the asking price was 239$ Plus tax, plus shipping... so 290$ later I would have a centerstand ? That was too expensive for my student budget, so I went at a local car parts store and bought 2 springs for 5$, then I went at the hardware store for some special (beveled) bolts for 3$ (SS) ... And asked my uncle who is machinist to fabricate nut for the swivel. So 8$ later and 5h of labor :



Then I had a small dent on my front rim, so I decided tu take it of and use a 12 ton press and some hardwood blocking to make it perfect again But I had to remove the tire.. so I jumped on the occasion to fabricated my little tire removal kit :

sounds like you will have a blast.... definitely download the TCAT GPS files....lots of cool backroads.

Definitely shake some gear! The trip is way more fun with far less gear/weight to pack everyday, you wont regret it! You can always buy a cheap tshirt at the tourist stops if ya get to smelly between washes..... Not sure what you get for mileage on the GS however when im going between points with no fuel stops I cruise slow and easy on throttle to extend the range.. you may wish to check out www.rotopax.com. perhaps you can mount one on the side of the bike which doesn't effect the handling as much? For 95% of the trip my guess is you have enough range built in......

Hey! I am not bringing the two gallons with me on the trip, they will be great for the closer to home trip on fire roads. I thought I was going to but the 990 adveventure will limit our mileage so I don't have to worry! The backpack will probably be as close to empty as possible.. I plan to use it on hikes and stuff! And I probably have enough rnge for 99% you are right! Worst case I will buy gas tank over there :P You are right for sure on the packing every morning :O God can I hate packing wet stuff on a cold morning
