2013 KTM Adventure 1190

Local dealer said first bikes/demo due for registering 1st March,
got a long list of people waiting to ride and reckons it will sell itself (after a test ride)
apparently you can set the info screen (square one on the left) with your favourites and the panniers will have "courtesy lights" available

Rode it a few days ago and absolutely loved it. Chalk and cheese compared to the old bike.

Electronic aids are amazing - they just work !! hit the apex on tight hairpin and nail the throttle wide open - no slides, no wheelspin, no drama. Just a little flicker from the dash to let you know the traction control is working and an amazing kick up the backside as you hurtle towards the next corner .........

If anyone is thinking about one of these don't mess around. Get down to your local dealer and start talking to them. get a test ride booked and get your cheque book ready .................

Is it all you wanted it to be? Is it still FUN? Have they still got the edge of the 990??

After one full season on the S10 it might be time to go back in 2014 to an 1190.

Definitely. The electronics make it all very user friendly - perhaps takes away some of the rider input but it is fast ! If you want real fun switch the electrics off !!!!

I have to be honest and say that. at the moment, i don't know.

The R is better looking in my opinion and definitely has more off road capability. But will I be using it off road much ? Possibly the odd trail whilst on holiday but other than that i have a 640 Adventure for more serious off road use. And for road use the 21 inch front wheel may compromise handling a little compared to the 19 inch wheel on the standard model.

The suspension on the R has much more adjustability than the standard bike (but you do need to get spanners/screwdrivers out to so it)

I think it might be down to a toss of a coin ..................

I went back about twenty pages but didn't see it... has US pricing been set yet? I'm curious about the 1190 R.

I'm also wondering... what are my options for lowering it a little? I'm stuck with a 29" inseam. I lowered my DR650 2-1/2"... 1-1/2" using the factory lowering settings and 1" more using lowering links.

I had been thinking about a Tiger 800XC, which I could get by with a 1" drop, but really, it's too close to my DR650. The 1190 R would be better choice without so much overlap, like a lighter, more capable Tiger Explorer. I'm just worried about how to get it low enough to manage without screwing things up.

I was at the dealer today paying for the bike... Apparently here in Australia, KTM is not offering the "power parts packages" like the ones offered in KTM UK; The explanation was, that they do those packages in Europe in order to mach the new BMW'S
Doesn't seem to be fare for us here!..

I have a 29" inseam and the adjustable seat on the adv is fine,
The R was too tall for me, dropping the R seems a bit of a contradiction,
The adv with some duel sport tyres will be easily capable off road,

We all know it's fast.
Is it fun is a bigger question.

I was reading a Multistrada thread and an (ex) owner wrote: "It's no fun to ride slowly, so it's a bike waiting for a ticket."
A truly versatile bike is still fun to putt around on using low rpm and big torque when not using the screaming 150 hp.
It would be nice if the 1190 Adventure has more of a dual personality like the Versys 1000 (except better all around of course!).
