There is one in the HEADER. There are only 2 pipe pieces. (header/silencer) See pic on last page of cat location in header. With the silencer removed, you should feel the Header pipe CAT with a screwdriver or see it.

Went for a ride and found some snow to play in this weekend. She is not stuck here, I just stopped to take a pic, she pulled right out! And that is with the stock cheapo 50/50 dual sport tires!

I have a question for you Christini folks. Do you typically ride around with the front wheel engaged or disengaged? Have you seen any "high" wear items? Chains, gears, bearings, ect.?

I only engage the front drive when on dirt or a race track. I haven't really got enough time on mine to comment, but a friend has a former shop bike with a lot of miles and no problems. The linear bearings on the front driveshafts seem like the weakest point, but have to wait and see.

i dont want to buy a bike that needs a major rebuild after every ride

Ive just been reading about these bikes,285lbs was mentioned for a base model? Has anyone weighed their Christini on a good scale? Id hate to go back to riding a tank in the woods 2 wheel drive or not. hmmmmmmmmmmm they weighed one at 283 dry weight,that doesnt sound so good.

Foot, what did you used to ride? I have a F800 and its really too heavy for me. Love it but I wear down quickly due to its wt.

I think the 2WD even at 285 sounds like the cats ass! to me. Wish there were more riders chiming in on these Christinis.

i have test ridden a 450 and thought it felt great .

I'm still learning my 450, but it feels a little heavy in single track to me compared to my old CRF450. I don't have a damper on it yet, but the front drive and weight seem to dampen things a bit. The front traction is amazing, though! I am still running the stock dual sport tires and it simply doesn't ever lose grip, it seems. It always goes where you point it. It also doesn't get stuck in mud or snow, just twist it and it will keep going.

Ive ridden TT500's around in the woods long ago,I remember a sensation of weight with that,then a DR350S when they were the thing,turns out they're over 300lbs dry also.
Had a 94 610 Husky,fast and kinda heavy but climbed anything.

285lbs dry would be OK for a dualsport bike but a Christini dirt bike weighs that? 2 wheel drive or not that seems heavy,put in 3 gallons of gas,skid plate and other gaurds,heavy duty tubes,hand gaurds and its a good ways over 300lbs. Then more weight if it was made street legal.

For the singletrack trails we ride around here, light bikes are just the thing,my 200XC-W KTM seems to go right up most anything I point it at.
I run a Tubliss settup on the back wheel with a Dunlop radial Trials tire,it can be run at 5psi and grabs like velcro.
Momentum always counts more then traction though.

An F800 is a nice bike,but a lotta bike to keep track of if things get squirrly.

Christini specs the dual sport version I have at 288lbs, which I have not verified, but it does feel lighter than my 300lb XR650R. That said, I have been thinking of a KTM200EXC recently?

The christini system adds 15 pounds to what ever bike its applied upon.

this makes it heavier to pick up and to lift and push but the theory is that you hardly ever have to lift or push because you aren't getting stuck. the bike rescues itself or keeps itself out of trouble, saving you the effort.

my 300 is 265# fully armored and fueled but that isn't over the threshold for the tight woods around here for me. I try not to drop it but if i do, its just like picking up a typical 4t dirtbike.

the 15 pounds is a tradeoff that a lot of fast, strong riders wouldn't need to pay or want to pay. At this point, i'm happy to pay the 15 pounds for awd (and the 8 pounds for electric start.)

Good feedback guys! I'm really considering the AWD. Will test ride one later this spring. If they were fuel injected, I would probably already own one. I want a DS AWD bike that behaves at high altitude too.
