2013 F800GS Sprockets...

I know it's early in the model year, but has anyone taken the front sprocket cover off yet?

My dealer states that the 2013 F800GS has been changed to a 17 tooth sprocket in the front and that, if I want to tame the RPMs down for the highway, all I need to do is change the rear to a 42.

All the documentation I can find is that the 2013 still has a 16 tooth front.

Anyone have any "correct" info??

Ride Safe!!

So he's implying they changed to 17/45 in 2013? Seems unlikely.

Yeah, that's what I thought. My dealer must be incorrect because at 67 mph the RPM in 6th gear is indeed over 4,200 on my 2013. Going to the 17/41 combo should bring it down to about 3,900 on the highway, at which point the bike hasn't yet kicked in the vibes under the seat.

Hey may have confused it with the F700GS that went to 17/42 this year from 17/41 last year?

Who knows ... a "real" BMW would have a drive shaft right?

Turn Signals 2013 800GS

It looks to me like you could buy the rear signal mounting bracket, $15, and use it on the front to pull the signals in almost to the fairing. I haven't tried it yet but will soon.

Apparently I'm allowed on dumb question a year, so here's my quota - can you fit the F800 wheels on the F700?

G'day Woody .. I treat them mean ... Pitty I'm too much of a short arse. Took the 700 for a ride last week and really enjoyed the experience (good seat height). Looking at options including the 800 with factory lowered suspension. I hear there are some drawbacks if anyone would like to comment further??

BMW and Touratech expedition Bash Plates

Hi,
Was wondering if any F700GS or F800GS owners could help me out with info on the BMW and Touratech Bash Plates.

Could you please measure from under side of sump to the under side of the bashplate.
For F700 owners could you also measure from under side of bash plate to ground.
I'm also interested in the mounting differences of both, does one give give a little more flexibility in the mounts.

Would appreciate anything you can tell or show me to help me make a choice.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the fork caps on the 2015 F700GS. I thought I would find the usual screw in with a nut headed cap under the rubber cap but it's just a flat head cap with some sort of retaining mechanism. I'm trying to get to the spacer

push down on the cap then carefully flick out the wire circlip. Be warned, it'll try to fly away...

both, but the circlip in particular. There isn't too much preload on the cap, and it has a sealing O-ring so the friction from that slows it down a bit.
