Headed down to Mexico early in the morning for a few days. I'll let everyone know how it went. That's assuming I avoid the banditos.

We are actually staying in Presidio, Tx. We ride across the border into Mex each day and back to the USA. Having a great time. We have ridden two days.

What's the requirement for insurance to ride across like that? I'm going down for "Uncle's Around the Bend" ride in a few weeks and we're thinking of going into Mexico for a day ride.

No ins needed if you are just going for the day. Be sure and take your passport though and registration or something showing you own the bike. I didn't have anything and almost didn't get across the first day. The second day they didn't ask. You have to pay$1 when you come back.

Fotobo, I have to say there is a differance between 'needed' and 'required'. You only need it if there is a accident, then your happy to be insured.

The world changes when you cross the river. Few pay any attention to signs or signals...if there are any. And if your in an accident, you can bet that you will be found to be at fault, even if your not.

Ask Tricepilot or MikeMike on the thread "Is Mexico Safe?" http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...7&goto=newpost before you make a decision. Then have a wonderful time in Mexico. Everyone should go there twice...or more.

When we go into the interior of Mexico for several days, we buy the ins but never have when we are coming back the same day. You could though if it makes you more comfortable.

I know several that have made reservations already. If you are thinking of going you might make a reservation soon. Just got an email this morning asking for more info. You need to make this ride Wild Bill, it will start your year off right....
