That was owned by my friend Dale. Saw it at the York swapmeet along with his Can-Am. Sweet ATK, probably the nicest I've seen.

I'm still working on resurrecting my '91 604, hope to have it done sometime this year. http://atk604resurrection.wordpress.com/

I've also started work on the CCM: http://ccm350resurrection.wordpress.com/

Sorry for the thread drift...

@Jax - I think Biesecker Gap in southern Michaux is far rougher than Hawbottom - at least it is on my XT500. Hawbottom is fun, I avoid Biesecker if at all possible.
Yeah, we should have a vintage enduro ride!! Me, you, BradyD, and my Dad would make at least 4...

What part of Biesecker is really rough?? I want to check it out! What the official Michaux map calls Biesecker Gap and what Google Maps calls Biesecker Gap are different.... could you link me to a Google map showing the rough part of the road? I have yet to find it, thanks!

Let's see if this works:
http://goo.gl/maps/3qp9S
Google calls it "Forest Road", runs between Gap Rd. and Wirt Rd. Only 1.4 miles long. If you turn onto it from Gap Rd., it's pavement for a short way, then it turns into "baby heads" and near Wirt Rd. smooths out to "normal" for Michaux. Last I was on it (June '12) there were low hanging branches to add to the fun. I could never find a good line through the roughest part, neither could my buddy Leo. Other folks say it's "so easy a big GS could do it".

Yep, to each his own on description of roughness and all.

I find if I buzz along on my old XL500, I float through that road. Go slower, and I'll pound off every baby head rock (like that description). Nothing so bad that I couldn't get my Harley through it either, but I wouldn't want to.

First time I ever went up and down Biesecker Gap Road was last spring on the DRZ. Had lots and lots of loose rocks and I wasn't sure if I really wanted to do it on the GSA (it already has drop, I mean 'character', marks from similar roads ). I was back in the area in early December on the GSA, and decided to give it a go. Still very rocky but not at all the loose ones like I had remembered earlier in the year, and we made it through with no drama.

Thanks for the info guys! I know exactly where that is, last time I was in Mixhaux we rode past it on Wirt Road... I thought about going down it but it was dusk and I wanted to get home before dark so we didnt have to depend on our old 6v lights. I'll have to check it out next time...

I started this thread as a 1 ride, short ride report...I very soon realized that this collective of personalities, posting photos and stories, had a great ability to let me ride vicariously through them when I was unable to be there.

I've met some extraordinarily great people too.

Thank you all for 100,000 views. It's a testament to the excellent riding to be had in Michaux and other PA and MD State Forests.

I'm looking forward to many more adventures in Michaux!! Hellz yeh

I'd be up in them thar woods now, if it wasn't for these carpal tunnel sutures (to be followed on the other wrist in two weeks). After all, it's sunny with flurries, perfect riding weather - no bugs.
