Wix 557936 oil filter

Local auto shop looked up the numbers but want to make sure this works for my 95GS. Been searching the threads and cannot find a hit on whether this oil filter will work. Anyone know whether this fits?

Yeah, I have that link book marked but it does not mention the Wix filter. I think I need to look at the cross references for Wix and Fram or.... I believe Wix makes filters for a few brand names.

Never heard of Wix. Why not use some brand-name oil filter, it's not that expensive...

Wix is a brand name and generally regarded as one of the highest quality oil filters on the market in the U.S.

The Wix 57936 is the correct filter for your 95GS

Purolator and Mobil oil filters are also highly regarded and likely more available at a variety of retailers.

Well Wix is the one that the local downtown auto parts store carries. I could go to someplace further and out of the way or to a chain store but why? Wix makes good filters and I do not particularly want to go on a quest.

All the BMWs of that generation share the same oil filter. Don't know where you guys got them numbers but what I have here for the Wix is 51348 and quoted as the right number on many many BMW threads.

Missing to my collection of pics of cut filters that the Wix, altough I already know what's inside, one of the autoparts stores I go to has the Wix sales display with such a cut up filter.All good....!

I spent most of my duty on the west coast and Asia in VF squadrons, with the exception of training and a one year detachment at NAS Oceana.

The only military aircraft I have flown in was a T38 and a C119 but I do have some stick time in a C47.

I once flew to Gitmo in the NAS Norfolk CO's aircraft to "import" spirits for an upcoming beach party for the VF Squadron there...

I enjoyed climbing around in the P2V Neptunes and the S2F Trackers.

Favorite aircraft is the Lockheed Constellation. I used to ride my bike down to the Minneapolis airport, sit at the end of the runway in the propwash when a Connie would perform mag drops prior to takeoff. The smell of avgas and oil from a big radial is inspiring and the sound? Nothing like it.

+1 on Wix and FWIW they also make the premium Napa Gold filters. Napa has a handy filter cross reference at http://www.nfhconnect.com/lookup. (I have no connection to Napa but have generally been happy with the parts and service there)

I was an appointee to the US Naval Academy. I signed up for the AOC program however my health kept me from flying. I had friends who were pilots so they got me rides from time to time. So I did the rest of my USN on the USS Newport News in the Gunnery Division...the gunboat navy is now gone...I loved it while I was there.

More than that I can't say.

I would love to fly in a F4U one day...they're getting rare.

US Marine and US Navy pilots are the best in the world by a wide margin with the Israeli pilots coming in second.
