Yes. One of the first mods I did to mine right after breaking it in. They are lean enough with the stock muffler and a slip on just makes matters worse. The Holeshot kit is the best out there IMHO.

Sounds good to me! Any pointers on install or initial tuning? Or do the instructions cover just about everything?
I'm really hoping that it will wake up the beast ![]() -Jake

The Holeshot kit comes with good instructions and Dale is just a phone call away and always willing to help.

Hello Bandit folks -- I'm getting interested in a Suzuki Bandit 1200S for touring (long distance 500+ mile days).
How much would you pay for a 2002 Suzuki Bandit 1200S with 14k miles, full luggage and in (really) mint condition? How different would it be from a naked SV650 on the freeway? How is the torque curve compared to an SV650? Is it very peaky, or more linear? Thanks! Here is how it looks --

Torque curve with the big Bandit is very linear, think freight train. ![]() That one is very nicely set up for touring and with the low miles I'd say in the neighborhood of $3500.......

I like the Bandit for long rides, last summer I spent 7 to 9 hrs each day riding, one about 15. The bottom end torque makes it easy to poke along on slower roads without a lot of trouble lugging, the big shove at 5k on up is really a blast. I find the transition from linear to afterburner is very convenient; 4k and below when you're taking it easy, 5k on up if you trying to scoot. So you could call it peaky in the sense that the top end is lot hotter than the low end but its not obtrusive and reasonably work from both.
My bandit is naked so its breezy but I do find the air up top on the helmet isn't super turbulent. There are some "standard" upgrades to the engine & suspension that improve the bike considerably, generally easy to install. The bike is also easy to work on.

I'll be taking advantage of this when I replace my punctured oil cooler with an Earl's unit. Provided I can figure out a way to make mounting brackets.

It looks like that bike may have a Zero Gravity sport touring screen on it. If so, it works great. I am 6' and love the hell out of the '01 I picked up last year. The engine is very tractable with good power just about everywhere. Wishing I had a few extra $ to spend with Dale, including a different seat. I am looking to add a very similar bag package as to what that one has.

If you are looking at a bandit in the 2001-2002 timeframe make certain to check the VIN for the oil burning issue.
It's a big tear-up if you get stuck with this issue...... Have a look here. http://forums.banditalley.net/index.php?topic=276.0 I pretty much just avoid the 2001-2002 because of this issue.

I know it's aftermarket but not sure which one. It does a nice job of keeping the wind off my helmet. I just picked up a Gsx1250 and it's terrible! Wind is directed to my upper torso and head causing me to bobble head at speeds over 70! I'm already looking for a good aftermarket screen for it. jub jub screwed with this post 02-21-2013 at 11:29 AM |
