Decent numbers I supose, they must all be parked in the winter.

Oh I look instinctively, I was that dorky little kid sitting in the back seat calling out years and models of cars from 2 blocks away when I was 5.

While I agree, my friend has a Mazda Speed 3. I call it the flying eggshell. Little bastard WILL light the tires if you romp it in 3rd gear.

I hate FWD more because I refuse to work on them, I hate traverse engines, like the day Eclipses that you had to pull the intake to get to the back spark pugs.

I don't think I have owned a front driver since I was in high school and that was only because I bought a Taurus off my pops for like $300.

You're still trying to figure out this internet thing, aren't you...

The question was whether or not the 5th gen Camaro is a hit. It has nothing to do with a goddamn prius, but since you brought it up it took Toyota until nearly the 9th production year of worldwide production to equal GM's Camaro production and sales in 4 years While the Prius has a true worldwide market, the Camaro has a heavily dominated North American market with an infinitecimal market outside of North America.

I'm not trying to have an internet pissing match. Internet arguments are nothing more than retard slap fights. I was downloading Mosaic to surf porn in the early 90s. I work at ATT Labs building and creating communications technology.....

The figures I posted were U.S. Prius sales for the same sales period as those you posted for the Camaro (see red). It was an effort to contrast how many Camaros were sold compared to something on the complete other end of the performance segment (Prius). American's chose to buy 50% more Prius than Camaros and they are at similar price points. The Camaro and Prius are both pretty polarizing cars....

Personally, I'd love to see American automakers like Ford and GM succeed. I think American manufacturers have been making noticeable improvements over the last few years in the area of performance, aesthetic and reliability. My only lingering complaint against American automotive manufacturing is their stodgy and cheap interiors. I would like to sit in one of the new Corvettes to see if the fit and finish has improved to a level one would expect from the segment. When my mid-life crisis hits, or my kids are both through college, I might just buy another sports car.

On a side note, I've an uncle in Tennessee that, until a few years ago, drag raced a '67 Camaro he purchased while stationed in Germany in '67. 1/8th Mile, all motor and 2 speed power-glide.

Again, both in the U.S. market and in the world market the Prius is a more sellable car because the mileage and boring functionality of a Prius appeal to a much larger audience. You may as well be making a case that the Honda Accord outsells a Fiat Abarth. It has no relevance.

If you must use the Prius as a benchmark for what constitutes a "hit", consider the fact that the Camaro is a retro pony car which by it's very design and intent will appeal to a very narrow audience. That it sold 300,000 + units in only 4 years when it took something as widely embraced, functional, and economical as a Prius (with a much larger world market) nearly 9 years to sell the same quantity pretty much says it all.

Oh, and I get the fact that you created the internet (Al Gore be damned), but that doesn't change the fact that selling 300,000 + copies of nearly any passenger car in only 4 years is a failure most any auto manufacturer would happily embrace.

I ordered my 1983 Silverado with a "charcoal" interior. Loved it!

The 150bhp 305-V8 sucked, though. Only V8 engine available in the C10 models at that time. (Stupid gas crisis). Got good fuel economy, but wouldn't pull a horse trailer worth a shite.

I drove a '78 El Camino growing up. Cool car. Too bad the 305 in that thing was sub 200hp witha 2 barrel and I believe it had 2.73 rear end gears too!

The analog gauges, the usage of powder blue and red for temperature with knob controls, etc. I just don't care for the GM aesthetic in some cars. You really don't see any significant interior upgrades until you go to Cadillac from what I've seen.
