Look out on the roads

One of my daughters just got her license today

Fargin insurance is going to kill me. More expensive for her alone, than Uzume and I and all the vehicles

Just be glad you don't have to get insurance for a teenage boy.

My 17 yo son drives a Suburu STi, don't even ask how much the insurance cost.

She has an old ('87) Nissan pickup. It's a project truck for the two of us. Mostly body/cosmetics at this point. It's now mechanically in great shape. We have gone through it over the last six months and inspected/replaced/repaired every mechanical bit on the truck. I figured she needed to be able to turn a wrench and at least be able to do routine maintenance and trouble shooting.

I can't imagine paying insurance on a "sporty" car for a teen driver.

Will I be safe if I stay in New Mexico?

It's great that you are starting her off with a project. Around here if the kids want the latest smart phone, they simply break the one that they have. Then mom and dad pony up for a new one.
My son sees this all the time and it really bugs him. Your daughter will learn that the real value is who is in the car and not the car it's self.
