Hi guys, I am looking for a KLR650 owner in the New Orleans area that would allow me to ride their bike. yeah yeah, I realize what Im asking, MSF course taken.
I am considering switching from the XR650L to the KLR 650, or keeping it and just getting a diffrent bike, and aparently test riding a motorcycle at a dealership is out of the question.
I receintly rode a 07 Triumph Tiger 1050, a 08 HD ultra classic, my brothers 05 Honda shadow 1100, a 99 Titan (an aftermarket HD) none of these bikes appeal to me. There are a few other bikes I'm considering but I keep going back to the KLR650.

I realize this is a long shot, but if you never ask............

Sorry to hear about your difficulties on finding a KLR to ride. I am a manufacturer's rep for Yamaha and I work with all the dealers in LA and a good part of Mississippi. I am sure one of my multi-line dealers in the NOLA area would let you ride a KLR. It might be a different story if it was a ZX14! I am assuming you have a valid MCY license? PM me and we can figure it out.

I say keep the XR650L, the KLR is a pig.
Fix up the Honda with a larger fuel cell, better seat, luggage, some sort of wind protection, then you will be set.

+1 with Electrode if choosing between those 2 - (my bro in law in Colorado has a klr) I rode it in Arkansas last month and it is great for the road and maybe some hard packed dirt roads if not to much gravel on them. Can you say "Top Heavy"? At least it feels that way to me. But the Honda is way better suited for anything rougher than that!
