look at a xt225, dr200, tw200 & kawi super sherpa then bring an extra gallon of gas. you might outgrow these after you're done with the TAT and then you can sell then and move on or not.
That's your opinion. I know plenty of people that started on the KLR650 as its easy to ride, doesn't get blown around by trucks on the road, and is far from eye sucking powerful. True for off road it is heavy but I know plenty of people have no complaints.
