Ushuaia. In need of KLR (87 - 07) rear suspension
Howdy folks!
I blew out the damping reservoir on my rear suspension a few days ago on the Carretera Austral. The bike feels like bouncing on a really old springy bed. On the tarmac I am doing alright, but on the dirt I get a little sloppy. Anyone have any leads on picking up a new one? I was going to try to have some friends order me one online and ship it down to Ushuiaia. Do you think it would get hung up in Argentinian customs? I have thought about just muscling through until I get to Buenos Aires, but I have a LOT of dirt that I would like to ride between now and then. Any and all advice would be much appreciated. Shit! I used to have one.
Custom is not going to keep your rear suspension, that's for sure (I bought progressive suspension from the US). It's going to take at least 20 days .There's a guy in BA that fixes suspension very well (he modified a lot for the last Dakars)

I'm actually in Rio G. right now.
Hi Manolito,
I was about to head out of town to ride towards Ushuaia today. Are you free to meet up and chat? I just sent you a PM. Thanks! Bear |

Coincidentally I blew my rear shock and waited 2 weeks in Rio Gallegos for a new one. Not much going on in Rio Gallegos. It took some time, but worked out well in the end. Yes, it did get hung up in customs in BA for a long time and took quite a bit of fighting to get it released in the end.

Fixed!!!
Hey Everyone,
If you ever have suspension problems in Ushuaia go to see Moto Pablo. Here is his info: Moto Pablo Intendente Olmos 908 Ushuaia Tel (02901) 444058 He rebuilt my stock KLR damper and shock on the rear suspension and redid my seals on the front forks. Fantastic. I'll let you all know how long it lasts. BUt all in all, it was inexpensive and really well done. He and his partner Alejandro are stand up guys. Cheers |
