John, went for a little put this afternoon, still can't get over the riding around here. I like this bike more each time I ride it.

Today for the first time I followed some loose gravel roads to properties in these mountains, single lane very steep 1 1/2 mile climb, tight switch backs with ruts, 1st and 2nd gear due to the steepness and tight turns. The bike was perfect never overheated. Damn I was having so much fun that no time for pics. After about 10 miles back on the paved tight roller coaster twisties, this bike is fantastic in 3rd and 4th and pulls great between 5 and 7.5K R's.

What a reasonable priced fun fun bike.

I might have to track one down later this year. If things don't go to hell (again) I had thought about getting another bike. The Husky was in the lead until that announcement.

Guess that I'll just have to get crafty about parts for an orphan, says the man with a 20 year old Nissan UD diesel for an RV toter ;)

I don't think there will be an issue with the Husky 650's, they are selling very well, the only possibility might be a price increase.

If they shift the production to Indian then they should be cheaper. But you know they wont drop the price.

Cheers

Doesn't sound like it would be the same bike. This one uses a ton of BMW F-650 parts. The supply of parts supposedly ended.

The article above said the 125/200 bikes would go to india, didn't say anything about the larger bikes.

Hopefully KTM makes a sportier TR650 suspension wise with a similar mill.

Read the link I enclosed in my previous post - interview with both Pierer and BMW Mottorrad leader. The latter was not so strict on parts not being delivered any more. He said it depends on new owner decision. And Pierer insisted that TR650 got a future (as opposed to Nuda).

I'm getting the bug to get a dual-sport bike and get into adventure riding. Of course I'm going to take an MSF class and something like the Rawhyde Adventure off-road class first. I'm a lanky 6'1" 170 pounder with a lot of road biking and mountain biking experience.
I was thinking of getting an F800GS but even used its a higher price point and probably to much bike for me starting out.
I envision riding paved and dirt back roads and some forest service roads and doing some camping trips.
Does the TR650 Terra seem like a reasonable bike for me to start with?
The 1.9% financing being offered this month is making it enticing to go ahead and pull the trigger.

That takes the pressure off to make a rash decision. Hopefully they'll still be available in a couple months.

I'm just up the road from you in Ducktown. I think the 650 Husky is made for this area. Road up to Tellco Plains and back between rain storms.

Yup, the entire three state area, NC, TN and North GA is dual sport paradise. Twistes, FS roads, single track, we got it all. I cruise down 64 past Duck Town quite often.
