I am 6' 4", 34" inseam, and just bought a 990 R... Been wondering what to do with the shield - and thinking about trying a lip, or louver, on the top.
After only 200 miles, I find that the wind hits me hard on both shoulders and the top of the chest. I have a hornet helmet and a scorpion, and have not tried to use the hornet yet due to the buffeting. I don’t really want a larger windscreen, and had hoped that a louver would open the bubble of calmer air enough to sneak my hornet on again. I have no experience with louvers, do they work at all?

I'm 6'4" and currently working on my own solution to the >40mph head buffeting. I'm a cheap-skate at heart, but I'd have no problem spending $150+ for a solution that I didn't think was ugly or ridiculous looking if I could return it if it didn't work. Apparently, I'm a bit of a hammer-head too, so that's why I'm going to try my own. I am consulting a mechanical engineer friend who builds and flies his own airplanes.
At this point I've got a simple add-on to the stock screen. I'll post pics and results once I perform some real-world tests, hopefully this weekend. Wish me luck I've read and seen some naca duct installs but that'll come later. "The freeway is my wind tunnel" HeatXfer screwed with this post 02-23-2013 at 06:12 PM |
