+1 for the Race deck. I've had it for a couple of years and been very happy with it. It still looks great, it's easy to clean and was the best solution for my older cracked concrete floor. I managed to put a deep scratch in a couple of tiles with a sharp piece of metal but they were easily replaced since I had some extra tiles. I had a few neighbors have problems with epoxy floors from several different brands/installers possibly due to the garage floor concrete type or age in the homes in my area.
After having it for a few years, I would choose the Race deck again over the other options.

And how well does this stuff drain? I'd be concerned about water getting under it and sitting there.

I installed mine over bare concrete to allow any large spills of water to run out of the garage just as they would with out the tiles.
The tiles have an air space to allow for the passage of air or liquid under them. They do have a hollow sound to them when walking with hard sole shoes but once they have cars, bikes and other objects on them it is much less noticeable. You can use landscaping fabric under them to reduce the sound but that will absorb spilled fluids and reduce to ability to have drainage under them. In my experience very little if any thing spilled on these actually goes under the tiles as the joints are very small but vary a bit due to changes in temp. When I got mine they had a garage journal member discount with free shipping and they came via UPS a few days later and my 6 yo daughter and I did the install in a few hours. The Race deck web site has tons of great photos and a design tool.

I've got a line on used Volleyball floors -- pretty much the same as race deck. About $1 a sq Foot. Anyone ever done this?
The guy selling them says he has them in his garage with no issues. kfs

Very nice. You should get that kink out of the dryer hose though.

After: ![]() Looks real nice. Race Deck makes good stuff. My garage floor is epoxy coated so I just got a 6' x 10' Race Deck" pad to put under my lift table. The movement of the lift was starting to wear on the epoxy finish. What are the details on the garage door insulation? Who makes it, where did you get it, how thick is it and is it secure...does it stay put? Tech23

I cut the pieces to fit inside each panel of the garage door. I then went around the edge of each panel with aluminum tape. Name: Reflectix Insulation Bought it at Menards Thickness: Not sure, 1/4 inch maybe. Its just shiney bubble wrap. Stays put? Yes, I have it taped to the framework with aluminum tape. ![]() Check out post #12 of my single car garage revamp on garage journal. http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=155324 |
