Adjusting handgrips
Hi all. First post and I figured I'd get my mechanical ignorance out front and center from the beginning.I just picked up a 04 GS. On the GS the front brake lever is rotated forward too far to be comfortable for my little girly hands to grab, and I can't figure out how to rotaate the switchgear assembly and brake lever backwards towards me a bit so that it is easy to reach. All I've managed to do is loosen the mirrors a bit. I tilted the handlebars back a bit, but can't go any further without banging the tank at full lock. I did search the forum, and have loked at the service manual, but it is still not clear to me. Can anyone tell me how to rotate the switchgear? I appreciate it. Otherwise loving the GS so far. Much better riding position than the RS, and the 04 motor feels better than the 02 (maybe just tuning). |

It's been so long since I've had to make that adjustment myself. But if I remember correctly, You have to remove the plastic on the handle bar controls, and the adjustment bolt should be under there.
But like I said, it's been a while so I'm not positive. And welcome to AdvRider

Yep there's a button head under the plastic, kind of a pain in the neck (really a pain in the neck you have to get your face underneath somehow).
You can also bring the lever closer to the bars, they have an adjustment wheel. You want #1. Good first post. Now fill out your profile. Maybe someone can help real close by.
