Takes a little getting used to but well worth it.......now you'll carry 3 gallons lower than the stock tank carries 2.25, radiator protected, and you'll have stoooooopid range if you ever actually fill that sucker.....

5.3 acerbis gas tank
not sure what will be my range, but my guess @ 200 miles. i can surely use extra fuel for this coming death valley noobs rally. then in 3 months, we're heading to toroweap-north rim-kaibab-burma road-utah. hahaha, no more unnecessary trip to the nearest gas station.

Installed a Pro-Seal air filter gasket today. Read reviews about how this provides assistance in creating a tight seal, keeping dust/dirt from making into the engine.
![]() Cleaned and prepped airbox with some wax/grease remover to ensure gasket would stick. ![]() The give you a piece of test scrap material to try before you commit the real gasket. This is how mine looked before installing it, nice and dry with no air filter oil residue remaining. ![]() Remove backing from gasket and gently set into place. Once you are happy with placement apply pressure to seat gasket. ![]() Since it was only a bit above 40 degrees in the garage I decided a bit of heat from heat gun would help activate and seat adhesive. ![]() Next up was the air filter bonnet, or sand filter. I am lazy, thats a fact...so to keep oiled air filter fresh longer I will run the filter hair net. ![]() Placed it over my No-Toil filter taking note to not go past filter edges on back. ![]() This will let me remove the filter cover, wash it off and when dry place back on. Doing this will let you ride all season on 1 or 2 filters. Looking at this from the back side of the filter you can see how the gasket ensures proper filter seating. ![]() The filter gasket cost about $17 and the KTM filter hair net cover was $20. Cheap insurance against dust and dirt killing an engine

Your having too much fun on that thing in the middle of winter, as if folks dont have enough reasons to be jealous of what we have out here.

Life is Good!
[IMG] [/IMG]I'm going to look into that Gasket thanks Saltydog...And that desert looks like a blast Crawdaddy! ..I added the Fastway Adventure footpegs awhile back and am really loving them. Much more room for bigger feet, and don't stick out past my tank. Ill try to get a better pic of them. Great grip..Can't say enough good stuff. BanhXeo screwed with this post 02-26-2013 at 10:18 AM |

I just bought one of these bikes. After reading all 14 pages of this thread, I am a bit surprised at all of the things that I *must* do to it before I even get a chance to ride it. Sprockets, Magic Mod, Seat, Springs,...Ugh.
I think that I am just going to ride it the way it comes for a bit...and see how it goes. I will pick up my "left over" 2012 350 EXC next weekend. I hope it is better than my beloved 2004 KDX200 I just sold... I am pretty sure that it will not be $7k better, but I am OK with that.

The only thing you *must* do is plug the hose on the sas canister to cure popping on decelleration. Everything else is just fine tuning (screwing with) a machine thats as good as it gets right out of the gate, just cause its fun Sprockets, seat, springs, would do that on any bike to taylor to riding style and comfort, not that you have to. Power is fine stock but who doesnt like a little bit more.

I am unaware of any hoses that just hang out in the open, un-terminated, from the canister. I do not even have my bike yet, so I can not look closely at the system... Thank You for your help!

What a help
Im going tonight to pick up a 350 exc-f after ridding one last night at the dealer.
I also road a 350 xcf-w I like the low end grunt of the xcf-w but I was not able to get it up to 60 to see what it felt like. The exc-f was great at 60. If I drop one gear in the front on the exc-f would it feel like xcf-w down low and would the crusing speed at 60-65 still be ok. |
