Alabama DS Skills Day this Sunday - Helena, Alabama

This is just what is says - Skills Building day - not a race. Nobody will be left behind, no dead boodies left in the woods. We will try some things, practice some skills, learn some new ones maybe, and RIDE in the WOOODS of the Cahaba WMA - on public lands. There are some really awesome woods to ride in, and the very worst, most rugged riding that I found is in the video below.

This riding should not be beyond anyone's ability. Small bikes, big bikes are all welcome. Unless it rains really hard between now and then, street tires might even work for most of the trails/roads.

If you don't know what skills you need to work on, THIS RIDE IS FOR YOU.

If you want to start riding off-road, THIS RIDE IS FOR YOU.

If you are an accomplished rider, but just want to practice, have fun, ride, watch and socialize, this ride is for you.

If you don't like stopping in the woods, or watching others try new things - this ride IS NOT FOR YOU.

A good way to check out your bikes, dust off your rusty levers, and find out what you need to work on.

There is some optional riding that is more challenging for those interested, but mostly we will be poking around in the woods for a few hours - it is GONNA BE GREAT

OPTION A park and ride to point B
OPTION B park and ride from the departure point

A is the old Winn-Dixie Parking lot in Helena at 1pm. KSU on fueled bikes @ 1:30
B is the warmup pit, where the ride will depart from around 2-2:30

PARK IN EITHER LOCATION

Jeez, jrou... the simple answer is to add ANOTHER bike to the family. If she doesn't ride a bike yet, this IS the time and the place!

Y'all can honeymoon ANYtime...this is a one-time pre-spring deal.

Oh, yeah...congratulations.
Again.

I am going to make this one. I will probably get there early and play around a little before the "organized" ride.

I'll be out in the truck today if anyone needs me to pick up some cones to set up a course...I'll be hauling the bike to the location tomorrow.

Anyone going early? I may have to bug out around 4:00, but I could meet and ride some before the "organized" ride.

I'm busted. Looks like I need a new slave cylinder for my clutch issues; I can bleed the clutch after filling the master cylinder, but soon after (depending on frequency of clutch use) it's back to flat, and won't disengage.

While I'm pretty fair at shifting, using the throttle, I still find the clutch is better for changing gears than the throttle. Particularly for downshifting...

Removed slave, cleaned an oil jet behind it (was clogged, but doesn't address the clutch failure), and now I'm going to try to find o-rings to rebuild it. Maybe an exercise in futility, but if there's a miracle to be found, this will be it.

New improved aftermarket Oberon replacement: $150. Spent most of the night reading / researching the Orange Crush forum on ADVrider.

Daggone It! I wanted to work on my Dual-Sport SKILLS today!

The good news is, I have lots of mineral oil left for master cylinder refills...
