For adjective use (as on the Portuguese rubber wrapper), i too would use Preventive, ie: Preventive maintenance.

Preventative does however have use as a noun, and i use it thus once in a while. Someone summed it up nicely: Taking an aspirin is a preventive act because aspirin is a preventative. Adjective vs noun in action.

Yeah I think so too. I'd put some Distanzias or Gripsters on it for a little more offroad-ability, and call it a day. Here's another one, not quite as purty, but close:
