Which Map to Which Device
I need to transfer unlock codes from one computer to another but don't know how to identify which map goes with which device. I have three Garmins, all different, and of course, maps for each. Yep, it's a dumb question, but still I need a little direction.

Do you have MyGarmain account & registered you products then I think you can find what map goes with what GPS.

If it's a recent version of Mapsource, go to Utilities|Manage my map products|Unlock Regions and you can export the unlock codes to a file, then import to the new computer.

I'm using PC's with various versions of Windows. Going thru the Unlock Wizard, I'm able to "Retrieve" the unlock codes, but there is no option to "Backup" the codes to a file and move. I'll be calling Garmin today to see if they can help.

If you use Mapsource under Utilities > Manage map products > Unlock regions tab are where your unlocked maps are shown.
Highlight one at a time and click export and save that file for each. Then on the new machine install all the maps you use, whether it's 1 map for all 3 or a combo. I assume you have DVDs for the map(s) or atleast the install file. When you have all the maps installed, then click import and select that unlock file and do that procedure for all 3 maps. All the unlocks will be in place for each GPS. Then plug them in one at a time and all will be good. At that point run any map updates if you have paid for that service.

after you have installed bascamp, then also install mapsource. http://www8.garmin.com/support/mappingsw.jsp mapsource will see basecamp installed and count that as a qualifying product and be allowed to install. you can have both basecamp and mapsource installed at the same time and maps will show in both and you can work on the gps in both. makes sure to check for updates in mapsource. another install method is to just use this link for "training center" it includes mapsource and does not a qualifying product installed 1st. once again install updates. http://www8.garmin.com/support/downl...ils.jsp?id=835

Thanks for all the help, but I wound up talking to Garmin three times before getting things sorted. They were very helpful but the information came in drips and drabs until I got to their outdoor specialist. Turns out my 60Csx had a map that was downloaded over the net instead of via CD. Had to reload into my new computer over the net and now all is good. I now know which map goes with which device and have unlock codes for all. Time to start drawing some new tracks!
