There are 11 of these left in the Kedron store in Brisbane (not sure if it's actually Kedron or Chermside, but yeh, you Brissy locals know which one I mean, the one outbound about 200m past Rode Rd)

Heard on TV the other day, Aldi is going into the mobile phone business; not as cheap as Kogan, but still not a bad deal.

Heads up

Just got my grubby paws on the ALDI cattledog for Sat. 23rd March. Mmmm, stuff.

The 45 litre 3-way fridge is on sale for $269, that's $30 cheaper than previously. These are a good bit of kit too.

A 2200w genny is $299 with 15 litrte tank good for 13 hrs, but we'll have to wait until the ad goes online to see if it is OK for electronics.

A 4-piece camping cookware set is $24.99, hard anodised aluminium, looks the goods too.

Wool blend socks, $9.99 for 2 pairs, good for winter.

And for the wino's out there, it's $11.99 for 6 cleanskin Shiraz Cab or Sauvignon blanc. $2 a bottle!

Android phone

I've had mixed results with Aldi electronic kit including the Bauhn TV I bought a couple of months ago. Picture quality was poor and Aldi refunded my $$.

Did any one buy an Aldi Android phone? If so how about giving us a report on its performance. I know I can return items within the 60 day period but I'd rather not have to.

Of course there may not be any left by now!

My wife bought one, as a smart-phone noob.
The Aldi item matches or betters the IPhone 5 (or whatever level of planned obsolescence the forbidden-fruit-people have reached now) for every single quoted specification except screen resolution.
So far, she's still learning how to use it for the complex stuff (like making calls), but I'll say that as the person on the other end of the line, it's a lot clearer than her reliable old Nokia - it seems to have some kind of ambient noise reduction function that cuts down background noise when she speaks.

Only minor issue is that so far, she hasn't found a protective cover for it yet.
For $200, it's a good hing - but good luck finding one - our local store had 10 and were sold out in about 20 mins!

Yeah. I'm also looking for one of the Aldi smart phones as well. I'm still using an old ZTE 159 builders type phone which works great but I think it might be time to update. Not really wanting to spend mega bucks on a piece of fruit or Sumsung.

Using Telstra 3G network.

Just remember it's not the full Next G network. I believe the sims will only work on the 2100Mhz 3G frequency, which is not Aust wide, but good enough for most.

You can always check the coverage maps and small print for verification.

Has anybody got one and ported their existing number over yet?

I'm keen to know if it is quick and hassle free as I can't afford to be off air too long.

The girls will start to fret...
