New day, new problem 12gs 2011

Here is what I have now - when with full tank only 1 cylinder is working, smells like gas, 'helicopterish' sound. Power and torque are volatile. When 3/4 of the tank starts to work OK. Any ideas?

Sounds like your charcoal canister might be full of fuel or the tanks not venting properly. That's where i would first look.

That is what it sounds like to me too.
Veter, are you overfilling your fuel tank? You can’t do that. Don’t fill the fuel tank all the way to the top.

One solution would be to remove the canister, it’s easy, but I don’t have direction for your bike

Start the bike for about 45-60 sec, do not touch the throttle, shut it off and open the gas tank quick( second key helps).If there is vacuum in the tank evap solenoid is not working properly, take it to the dealer for repair under warranty.

It happen to my friend 2011 GS, dealer try to blame overfill but it was not the case.BTW you should not top off the tank.

You can perform a canisterectomy on it pretty easily and eliminate those type of problems.

True, but my preference would be to remove it. I'd leave the solenoid plugged into the electrical system so it wouldn't throw codes but I'd directly vent the fuel tank and either plug the throttle body vacumn ports or connect them with a hose. Then you've eliminated one source of future problems and you can pound gas into your tank with no worries.

OK, so, removeing the canister will make the issue moote?
If so, he could just disconnect the lines from the canister and plug the proper vacuum lines? That way he could hook the system back up when he was home if he wanted too.
I don’t believe he has ready access to a dealer for a solenoid.

when you can please try to get this fixed right. The bike does pollute more without the charcoal canister.
