Hola amigos!!

Sorry I'm slow this morning (afternoon! crap!).
I forgot I had 2 videos for Day 2. Tried to do one in HD last night but it was going to be 12 hrs to upload.
My connection must have timed out, 'cause it wasn't done when I got up.
Did a lower res version this morning. Coming up soon.

I want to reply to everyone's comments - they're so great! Thanks you guys!
But, I don't want to fall behind in posting, either.
We love that you're reading along and enjoying the report, it's the sharing that makes all the work worthwhile.
Rest assured I'm reading every single one and cracking up.
We always have the best RR readers participants!

Just real quick -
- Glad to offer some Baja "inspiration" (soon to be "cautionary tales" )
- yes, we had fish tacos (lots!)
- ooh - sorry to hear that it's ZERO degrees in wisconsin!
- the route was close, Paul - very close.
- Dingweed - hope you're healing up fast!

Hi Joel!
Hey, I saw 2 of your PYYPP stickers! I took pics.
Hope I can get to that part of the report before you leave for the n00b rally!

Haha, yes - Norman J. Delorman made it.
He’s been clean and sober for 6 months, so we gave him another chance.
One day at a time, Norm. One day at a time.

Also - Coney the Safety Cone!
He did some relaxing on the beach and worked on his tan.

gah! Photobucket has made some changes and I lost all my default settings.
You may have noticed all the ginormous photos.
sorry if you have dial up or if you're reading this on your phone.

And, Goggles - It's OK, buddy. Whatever it takes to get you through the day...

Ah, crap - I forgot to give you guys the last map yesterday!
It doesn't do you a whole lot of good today, but here it is.

Day 2: 2/18/13 Gonzaga Bay to San Francisquito
191 miles

We all slept great last night. A lot better than we would have on a beach.
I stole this off the internet. That website goes to their Facebook page.

I walked around and snapped a few photos.
Baja sunrises are the best.

Flowers for Ladybug!

Our cabana (#6)

Bartek took some photos, too. I love this one!

During the morning inspection, we discovered that Scott had a few screws loose.
I mean, bolts.

The oil tank bolt, to be specific. That sucker was gone.

Matt went through his spares and found the bolt that Scott needed, but it was an 8mm, not a 6mm.
Scott had a 6mm bolt, but it didn’t have the right shoulder.
They fixed it up with a washer and some electrical tape.
Good as new!

Took some tire pics.
I thought it would be fun to see how the different tires hold up over the course of the ride.
Too bad I only did the rears for some reason, dammit.

Bartek’s
Motoz Tractionator

Scott’s
Mefo Explorer (super explorer? - not sure. Scott?)
It was already a little beat before he left.

Our
D908
(bartek got a little carried away with the chain lube this morning)

Went over to the dining room for coffee and breakfast.

Is that a shark jaw?

The guys were bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Considering that we were in "the corner of the drunks"

Bartek and Scott ran into this guy on their way over to breakfast.
John (and his dog, Gaucho) have been coming to Baja for years.
You can see John’s Sportsmobile in the background.

Huevos Rancheros

The owner really wanted to give us all calendars, which was sweet of him.
But we had to explain that they would never make it home in our soft bags.
Bartek and I took photos of it instead.
This one is nice and clear, so it’s probably Bartek’s.

After breakfast, we headed out.
We’d be riding down the beach to Punta Final,
then would take a “short cut” to Coco’s Corner.

Before I forget - here’s today’s first blurry map. hey, it's kinda clear!

The road started out as a mix between sand and dirt.

A little salty.

Then we headed on to the sand. Well, rocks and sand.

Goggles Pizano, messing with El Bartek...

Bartek, plotting his revenge.

I’m starting to think that Scott likes riding in sand.

You want video?
(sorry no HD. the Letterbox format cut too much off the top)

haha, we have too much fun on these rides!

Stuck.

Hard to get through without momentum.

We ended up behind a gate (on private property) - whoops.
There were people in the houses, but no one came out to yell at us.
It probably happens all the time.
There was a dog lying next to the gate and he barely even turned his head
to look at me when I opened the gate to let us out.

Next up, we try and find some road that Matt picked out on Google Earth.
It should bring us through those mountains...

We hope.
