Wicked deal, I just picked up a 2005 R1150 GS Adventure black with 21000 km. but I paid $8000. I didn't have to put nearly the work you have had to though . Good job.

Is there any way to adjust the hand lever angle on these bikes? I want to rotate these up a bit and can't seem to find anything on the topic.

If I'm being a dummy, I'm OK with that :-)

yes:

Remove this cover,

Under it there is a cap screw that clamps the controls in place.
I don't have a picture of that.

New tires front and rear. I went with the Shinko's, $180 delivered.

Outboard rear brake shoe had gone into the rotor. Got one of them $160 rotors from BeemerBoneyard and new shoes all around. Front's didn't need them, but I did them anyway.

Bike feels considerably taller with new tires

Put on the Touratech adjustable pegs and shift lever to give these old knees some room.

Got the topbox back from the powder coater. Not sure I posted a pic of "before" but the PO had rattle-can painted it black and red. Now it is silver again. Gotta get the hardware/latches and such back on at some point.

So far, so good and still < $3500 into it.

Looks like you've ended up with an awesome bike for a very small amount of money. Sweet! I put the same rear tire on mine and after about 1200 miles it seems to be wearing very well. MUCH better grip on dirt/gravel than the nearly slick Tourance that was on there when I bought it! LOL!

Yea, - um, you remember that one gal on Hee-Haw that wore the mu-mu? That'd be 'bout right.

My birthday is Wednesday the 14th so the plan is, take the MotoMark OCC Sunday-Tuesday of that week, probably hit Maggie Valley and the Wheels Through Time Museum on Wednesday, and roll into TN on Thursday. Ride home (Central NC) on Sunday.

The deed is done. Thanks! MUCH better.

For others, on my 2002 GSA:

Two torx and an allen to loosen the hand guard so it can be positioned out of the way

Three Phillips screws to remove that cover. One on the front, one on the bottom, one behind the mirror stem (much smaller than the other two). Remove the mirror stem with an Allen from the bottom.

That exposes the allen bolt, loosen, rotate, tighten

Put it all back together

Never having done it before, took me about 35 minutes to do both sides.

Sweet!

Dang, should have taken pics. If I have to adjust again, I will.

this board rocks

Not only does this allow rotation adjustment but, in and out adjustment. Somehting that becomes important when using an end of the throttle lock.
