I'm thinking about camping in Carrizo tomorrow (Friday), and over the weekend. Might have rain tomorrow, but sunny on Saturday and Sunday. Does anybody know if the road through there will be passable if it's raining? I'm going to be in my Toyota Tacoma 4x4, not my bike for this trip. But I should mention the tires are not super agressive.

From http://www.desertusa.com/wildflo/ca.html
Feb 26, 2013 Carrizo Plain National Monument reports: The monument hasn't received much rain this winter, so it's not looking to good for wildflowers. If we get some good rain soon, there still is a chance, but it's just a waiting game right now. . |

Think I'm heading out there this weekend.
I'm expecting very little dust and a bit of green. I'll let you know.... Don in Nipomo |

Rode through last sunday. First time through and rode right up the middle on Soda Lake Rd. Was on a DR650 but could have made it on a sport bike. Was not at all the challenge I thought it would be, but I was on my way from So Cal to Buttonwillow raceway for the day so I didn't have a ton of time to explore. There was no dust, and no flowers. Enjoyable none the less...

Left or right at the fork on your way by KCL? It's nice out there almost anytime. Not enough trees for the triple digits. Not much of a challenge, but plenty of solitude. Don in Nipomo |

I went right at the fork. I had no idea how long it would take to traverse and a friend was kind enough to let me ride his track bike if I made it to buttonwillow in time, (that waterproof bag on the back has my full race leathers in it..) so I was of a mind to take the known path this time...
