IS passing under a yellow o.k. now? I thought it wasn't? When RV passed Stewart he had just passed a Red Cross flag (by maybe 20') and was along side two more waving yellows. When a Red Cross is waved, for how long does the no-passing rule apply? Until you pass the flag (this doesn't seem right)? Or into the following corner? Will be interesting to see if anything comes of this.

Apparently the pass under the yellows was legal....if he was out of the Red Cross zone.

None of this matters now. But...

Stewart clearly passed RV after he passed a red light but before they came up to a red cross flag. If you look, and you don't have to look hard. Coming into the corner JS passed RV on the left hand side of the track was a red light on and flashing before both riders got to the corner. Riders must roll each jump individually with no passing I sure the first red light is there because there might not be enough room out of the corner to slow down before the triple, but still it is a red light.

I think they just opened a can of worms with with the passing on yellow flag. It will make the yellow flag just a meaningless at the blue flag.

Haan said about lapped riders not getting out of the way and I'm sure he was talking about a Kawasaki rider (my guess Pro Circuit rider) that took a full lap to get out of the way. Now this guy wasn't trying to go slow or block he was just riding the fast line. And that is what gave Wilson a chance to catch up. He still would have just not as quick. At one point I thought one of the flag guys was going to hit him with the flag.

The 250 race was not as close as the tv made it seem. When Wilson passed Haan, then Haan passed right back, it was hard to tell that was a pass on TV. But after that you could tell that the only way Wilson would make a pass is if Haan messed up. That was the last two laps.

450 was much the same, they didn't show much of the last 6-7 laps because nothing was happening.

No.. He passed JS where the flag is in this picture. Look again.



Pass is initiated well before the flag and 95% completed just before the flag.

Watch the video, he clearly did not pass Stewart until the SECOND yellow flag AFTER that cross flag. Clearly. However he was gaining ground all the way through that series of flags and positioning himself to push Stewart wide in the corner I suppose that's ok?

The real question is why was he only given a 3 place penalty instead of a one lap penalty at the first red flag?
I read the rules that you can do some things but I didn't see what the penalty is if you do?
