NC/VA/WV Road Recommendations

Taking a week-long trip in June from Charlotte, NC up toward Gettysburg. However, the objective isn't the destination but to enjoy the ride along the way. With that in mind, I'd like to hear your road recommendations - those roads you loved the first time you rode them and would/did ride again and again.

Just some background - I don't care for switchbacks but prefer tristies and sweepers if possible. I ride a ST1100 so the bike is very capable - probably more so than I am at this time.

As I begin the logistics of this trip, I'd welcome road suggestions and any other suggestions you'd care to offer (inexpensive lodging, good places to eat, etc).

Thanks in advance!

you could go west, grab the blue ridge parkway, then skyline drive(slow!) and then some county roads through a small strip of WV and PA will dump you out right near the battlefields.
WV and VA delorme gazeteers will serve you well for riding in those states.
plenty of fun roads to follow along the eastern base of the blue ridge also.

I've always enjoyed Hwy 16 up through NC and VA as far as you can take it, sure beats I 77 to I 81 if you're into riding for pleasure. ST is a super bike for cruising the mountains. Good route to spend as much time as you can afford.
