Tall Guy Looking to raise the Bars

Hey all,

I have an 06 950, love the bike. However like all other bikes (offroad) I need to raise the bars so I can stand comfortably. (I'm 6'5") I have used the simple rising blocks in the past. However I have seen the "Rox" brand risers and thinking it would be nice to have the ability to move the bars fore/aft to my comfort level. Also how much rise will the stock cables allow? I am thinking atleast 2" rise and keeping the stock bars. I also hear the Protaper or Renthal Pastrana bars help for taller folks as well.

Thaks all for your advise/help.

I have a Scotts underbar damper with the Scotts triple (which is taller) and then the Rox risers. That is about as high as it will go without completely rerouting the hoses.

I'm 6'5" and it is now perfect for me.

I use this one (5cm):

Did not change the wiring and the cables, works fine

In combination with the 3cm lower pegs it is ideal for me, I am 201cm tall

How much do you want to spend....? You can squeeze about 2" of height out of the existing cables. More than that means spending more $$ to extend things.

With out replacing handle bars or cables, for under $100 bucks you can get the 1.75" or 2" ROX risers, that allow you to pivot the mounts & bars to suit your specific riding preference. Ive got the 1.75 " & RC High set up. I like these better than some of the other options only because of the wider range of adjustment. Your only limitation to more height are the stock cable lengths. After moving the controls inward and downward a little, the front brake & clutch lines are maxed using the ROX 2" & that is using Pastrana or RC High. The 1.75" leaves a little extra length but the lines are tight on the fittings when the suspension is fully unloaded, Im not sure how these will hold up over the long haul. Throttle cables will likely need to be rerouted through to pass through the right side of the steering head, this allows you to keep the throttle cables in the standard upright position.

I want longer cables all around so I'm currently working on an extended brake line & clutch line & throttle cable kit for the 950/990. I'll keep you guys posted on how that comes out.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking about going with the 3.5" risers, however it sounds like most of you are happy with the 2" units. I would like to someday go for the Long travel "s" suspension so it might be wise to start looking for the longer brake lines. Has anyone done the 3.5"? It really sounds like I will need to change/re-route cables if I decide to go that route...

Thanks for your suggestions. Cant wait to ride a machine that fits...
