Just a thought, if you turn that fender around and moved the brace, wouldn't the gap fit the shock? I've been thinking about doing that on a Rennsport replica.
It probably would, it is too narrow for the rear tire though. I had to remove the center brace just so it would sit on top of the tire.
I laced up a wider rim, not to bad but it is just a test fit. I need to order new spokes about 8mm shorter. It looks like the swing arm brace is going to have to be bolted together at the center so I can spread the swing arm to get the tire in.
I want to install a /5 head light bucket/speedo but the price that people are asking is a tad on the high side. Since my stock bucket is beat I decided to modify it. I started by beating out the dent and the 2 spots that are for cluster clearance. I then welded on some tabs to hold a HID projector, it has a shutter inside for High/Lowe beam function. I used an old ford (1935?) head light bucket to extend it out. I have a speedo that has an electronic tach inside that I will be mounting on top. I need the big sheers at the shop to trim the ring so that is as far as I made it tonight.
I screwed up, I didn't account for the cable it'self. The speedo fits in and clears the back of the projector but the cable will not fit. I have started searching for an all electric gauge, looks like harleys have some nice ones that will do the job.
I like the look of the speedo inside the headlight... ( could use a/5 set up too?) Btw, I located a lens like you have. In fact located a pair on eBay and grabbed them both...
CD, He did want a /5 but didn't like the prices people want for them these days. Understandable, I guess. So far the later model looks good but now there's a problem with the speedo cable or something. US_Marshall seems to be a very talented builder. So everybody thinks. Maybe he's just lucky? Wish I had one half this sort of talent. Charlie
Thank you. Yes I would like a /5 bucket and speedo but they go for more then I have in the whole bike. I am also looking at getting a head light bucket from a late 30's chevy. They are a long tear droop head light and would give me lots of room on the inside to work with.
I understand the cost of the /5 speedo. I picked up one and mounted it on my /6 cafe. I wanted a bare and basic look, but also wanted a speedo and tach. Had to do a bit of wiring, and made a mounting bracket from aluminum sheet. I admire and appreciate the work you have in the headlight mods, well done!
